I FOUND OUT HOW TO DO CUSTOM COLORS

it's ["color=#[insert the hexadecimal code of whatever color here]"]text["/color"], without the quotes

so like if you wanted to make your text the color #cc00ff, you'd do ["color=#cc00ff"]text["/color"], remove the quotes, and you'd get text

are you putting quotes (") or apostrophes (') in there? that might be the problem

for some reason "smart" quotes/apostrophes (the ones that automatically change direction, like that one in my signature) don't raise the same issue
