[The commotion of everyone searching for the mice causes Luke to stir awake. He sits up with a yawn and turns to look at everyone else.] “Morning... Did—” [He blinks, adjusting his cap with one hand.] “Did... I miss something? What are you looking for?”

"Yeah, those lab mice seem to have completely disappeared..."

Kennifer sounds none too happy about this.

“...” [Luke scowls, biting his lip. He's very clearly disappointed with this turn of events.] “Blasted... So they've been killed, have they? Perhaps that figure I saw in the night last night has something to do with this...”

[Kennifer]

"What kind of figure? You sure it wasn't somebody else who was patrolling or something? 'Cause that could end up going in circles really quickly. Still, it's definitely a possibility."

[KungFuCutbug]

“No, it was... It was a distinct entity from anyone else in the patrol group. I couldn't make out who or what it was; it was too dark by that point for me to see them.”

[Kennifer]

"Oh. That's... less helpful than I expected."

Kennifer sighs.

“I tried to chase after them, but... they disappeared into the darkness before I could find out who they were.” [Luke lowers his head apologetically.] “But, I do know we can rule out Madelyn. I was trying to keep an eye on her over the course of the night, following her bandage breakdown yesterday which rubbed me entirely the wrong way... But the figure appeared, and I lost my focus.”

[Dookie]

“How tall was the figure? Could you tell?”

Wait... you saw a figure too? Could you- could you make out anything about it?

[Kennifer]

"Well, that's something at least. Still not enough to go on, is it? Unfortunately. And that's even assuming whatever the figure was is connected to the disappearance at all."

“No, I couldn't make out anything of the figure, height-related or otherwise. It was too dark for me to see.” [Luke crosses his arms and sighs, looking... remorseful, for some reason.] “Apologies for bringing it up in the first place and bringing your hopes up. I thought it would've been helpful, but... in hindsight, there wasn't enough I could see for my account to be anything of use.”

[Kennifer]

"Hey, it's fine. I mean, you still saw something... I mean, that's more than I can say, I kinda... passed out drunk in my tent. Maybe I shouldn't drink the whole bottle next time."

Madelyn sighs.

Well... this sucks. I thought maybe you got a better look than I did. Turns out we just.... saw the same amount of detail, I guess. Which was essentially jack shit.

Dio then wakes up and asks everyone once he catches up with the group. He says, "did anyone die a pathetic death last night?"

"Yeah. Those lab mice... Pinky and the Brain. They just vanished without a trace."

Madelyn groans and pinches her nose bridge in response to Dio's statement while resisting the urge to transform and beat the shit out of him.

...For the millionth fucking time, they're not pathetic. Except you, Dio.

“Now now, Madelyn,” [Luke interjects,] “Dio's behavior is... incredibly aggravating, I agree. But... I do not think it's wise to incite infighting against someone until we've found a clear suspect. So, if he proves to be a threat, then you can call him pathetic, capische?”

"And if I am incredibly aggravating, Luke, then why did that Kronos Rebellion agent go after me? If I am that intolerable to even them like I apparently do to you, they may at least put up with my presence and spare me. After all, Klaus can't waste a valuable talent like me or an agent. Perhaps the Kronos members want to save face and intentionally frame their own members, then, when the framing turns out to be false... They'll fool us right into thinking that they're innocent... When in fact they might NOT.

Reisen turns to Dio.

The point is... Just because you were FRAMED... doesn't prove your innocence.
