The robot goes silent for a second, as if he remembered an unpleasant memory.

"ANYWAYS... MOVING ON! ALWAYS WONDERED HOW I BECAME THE RICHEST MONSTER IN THE UNDERGROUND IN TWO WEEKS? WELL, NOW'S YOUR CHANCE TO FIND OUT! I COULD COUNT THE NUMBER OF TIMES I COMMITTED TAX EVASION ON MY HANDS!"

Mettaton holds up his hands with the fingers splayed. He probably dodged taxes more than 10 times, but revealing the actual number will most likely end in the IRS arresting him.

"We could be prisoners of war, we don't necessarily have to have committed crimes. Or maybe we'll be held ransom. I just hope the one who calls us 'mortals' isn't right about this being a gladitorial battle, because I'd die immediately. Nobody likes dying."

I have no idea what crime I could have committed that would get me thrown in jail. If we're arrested we should have access to a lawyer, right? I paid attention in Civics class. ...I mean, they said we're in San Francisco, so we're still in the U.S., so that should apply. I was born here, too. Do they think I jumped the border and came here illegally just because I'm Latina?

She did think that some of these people, with their talks of monarchs and glowies and whatever, were... a bit over the top and probably making shit up to scare people, weren't they?

She still wanted to know why they were here against their will though; even if it was something fun and they'd won some kind of luxury mansion getaway in a contest it'd be better to let people know up front.
