Party To Treason 2: Valdragon's Coup
Lucky is pointedly ignoring Fionn. ... Probably save some time and interpret that as a "no" vote.

Even the cat,” Fionn mutters in disbelief.
I understand I haven't been the most involved, but I can assure you I am neither the Mole nor a Loyalist. I am a whole-hearted supporter of this coup, and with the experiences I've had during my time in the Fianna, you can be sure of our success.

I could probably say you're a loyalist yourself, Ms. Frankenstein. The time you nominated me, you could have just had one operation for the coup take away just to discredit me when I was Liaison. I did at least make sure one Coup operation succeeded. Can you say that? But it figures, the ones voting against my idea are just acting like sheep as usual. Not even bothering to think for yourselves. Just going along with whatever. It's pathetic.

If I'd wanted to discredit you, I could have just said I'd given you a choice of a Loyalist operation and a Coup operation then.

Like I said, if you're really on the up-and-up, I apologize, but I hope my reasoning is clear. We don't really have room for error. You were nominated by someone I don't really trust, Harrier. And you're nominating someone for a reason that is obscure to me, who has given reasons for their own voting that seem flippant.

You're right about that. We don't have room for error. Remember when I was first Aide and I nominated Blixbo, who YOU said was for the Coup? If I really were a loyalist or mole, would I not have bothered nominating him for the Liaison for the first time? Granted you could still be a loyalist and claim Blixbo as good anyway just to earn our trust. But I entrusted the powers to him first, did I not? And besides that, who's to say anyone is trustworthy at this rate? The cat failed. Why not have some new blood, see what they're made of? Surely they can't cause more damage than what's already done? Right?

That's the problem. Yeah, until the mole loyalist members take us over or we complete the coup, yes, of course they can cause more damage. And by getting those loyalist plans through, they're close. You just admitted I was right that we don't have room for error and that's what you say?

Well I don't know any other better options! Do you? I haven't seen you come up with anyone better. Do you have any ideas of your own? I know you don't trust me because Harrier nominated me. And I'll be willing to give you the benefit of the doubt here. Let's just say Harrier is a Loyalist. I'm personally not making any claims one way or another. I'm just going with your thinking. But have you ever considered he nominated me as a way to keep heat off him? After all, if you're suspicious, what's better than giving power to one of the few people here who's helped the coup? To shake eyes off you. Or even set someone up as a patsy and put all eyes on them? Have you ever considered that possibility? I'm the one who's responsible for the one Coup operation being passed. I haven't seen anything succeed under you, or Harrier, or the cat, or even Juniper. I've given reasons why I'm not a loyalist. But you sure seem to want to distrust me despite a suspect nominating me for it. If you ask me, I think there's good reason to suspect you're not all for Valdragon after all.

Is it possible Harrier wanted to set you up as a patsy? Yes. I'd rather think that, it would be much more agreeable. Unfortunately, right at the moment I don't have the luxury of much trust if we're going to pull the coup off. I just know what I've experienced. Like I said, if I'd really wanted to discredit you from the start it would have been easy. Honestly, it was the combination of Harrier's say so and my already having an eye on MacCumhaill that made me think it was just too risky. Ask the others why they're voting the way they are.

Very well, Ms. Frankenstein. I do hope my reasoning why I'm for the coup is sound as I've made my points clear. And I am willing to concede that Harrier may not be for Valdragon. But if you all have a good reason why MacCumhaill is untrustowrthy, I'd like to hear it.

Honestly, it was his objection to Blixbo last time. ...Possibly I was being sensitive since it was implicitly calling me untrustworthy. But I'd noted it.

"SHUT UP, THE LOT OF YOU! Can't we just all agree the mutt smells untrustworthy? He didn't  give a dang reason for appointing Mr. Bling as Valdragon's aide! Harrier and George may or may not be in cahoots, but I'm not willing to give the doubt of the benefit... uh... do you say it the other way? I DON'T CARE! Captain Wario says NAY to this!"

Because we don't know much about him? That's not much of a reason. We could say the same for the others. Chef Beck, Wario. We know nothing about them, yet had I chose one of them, would you have felt the same way? We know nothing about them, sure. But I'm looking at those who haven't done anything because they could possibly be safe options. The rest of us pretty much have been involved with Loyalist operations passing. Whether it's bad luck or intentional. Maybe some of these others can be assets. But no, you all fear the unknown when there are no better options. Do you all see where I'm getting at? Who would have been a better choice? The ones who've had their chances and had Loyalist operations passed or the others who could be for the Coup. Where we can finally have a lick of success. But no, you just sheep like everyone else, Ms. Banks. If I were you, I'd try not to get too close to those oil wells. They probably rotted that brain of yours.

"WARIO IS NOT A SHEEP! Who do you think I am, a furry? NO! I'm just using common sense! I've invested my time into this coup! I don't want it to blow up in my face, because that would be bad for me! I mean... all of us except for the Loyalists!"
Reply
Well, my yellow-hatted friend, I'm attempting to use my common sense as well. Although it appears our ideas on what common sense are are at an impasse. Let's look at the people who've had their chance so far. First, Ms. Frankenstein became the Aide, who then nominated me as the Liaison. This resulted in a Loyalist operation being passed. Then it was me as Aide and I chose Blixbo as Liaison. A Coup operation passed. The only one so far, by the way. Then it was Juniper Banks's turn as Aide. She chose the Cat. And what happened? Another Loyalist operation. Major Harrier became Aide, who chose Blixbo again as Liaison. Only this time, a Loyalist operation passed. Now I'm willing to go for the idea Harrier may not be for the coup. But look at the ones voting against my idea. Frankenstein, who was aide and resulted in a Loyalist operation. Perhaps she's telling the truth, it was a bad draw. Perhaps it wasn't. Though I will give her credit. She's actually putting in effort in her arguments. And look at Juniper and the Cat, who both voted against my idea. And all without even trying to give any sound reasoning. I think Blixbo is in the clear. But these other people, like Frankenstein, Juniper and the Cat, can you really say any of them are trustworthy? Had I chose them, would you really want to vote for them? You're right, Fionn is an unknown force. But that's why I'm going for him. Because I think choosing someone who's unknown might actually be good for the coup. Just some food for though here. I don't think he'll be worse than what we've gotten so far. Let's have some success for the coup. I'm actually confident if you go for my choice, we can actually turn things around.

Right now, Harrier has a crayon in his mouth, and a piece of paper in front of him.

two seconds... erm... i did a maths. based on the rules that Valdragon gave us, there are somewhere between three and zero coup operations left in the pile. and the only way that all three are gone is if cool Vick (Frankenstein), Columbo and i are all lying! but, we have another advantage. all the operations seem to be unique, with their own code names. for example, the three i drew were called "Smooth Jazz", "Vacation Time", and "Crying Wolf". i'd like to hear the op names from Columbo, cool Vick, and Banks. that'd probably help in a future in which we don't frick everything up.
hey who turned out the lights?

Very creative... For the record, there are certain circumstances under which you may encounter a duplicate operation, either in your own hand or an operation seen by a previous Captain. There are very good reasons for this, and to question it is to question me. But this is nonetheless a very interesting idea, and I should hope it should root out the traitors. Remember, you're currently my favorite, Major. Don't screw this up for me.

[OOC: I do like the emergent gameplay, so I will give you this information. I won't tell you what those circumstances are though until the game is over, because this is an unintended bug that the fluff created, which is interacting with an older bug with the operations and in addition an intended feature of them to create potentially multiple duplicates. And also I'd like to see you figure out a way around this or to figure out what circumstances duplicates can appear under, or if you haven't actually reached those circumstances yet.
Please note it's only operation names and associated challenges that are affected by duplication. There are still a total of 11 loyalist operations and 6 coup operations in the total deck, because the game would break if you didn't know how many of each were in the initial deck. It's just sometimes the fluff will duplicate, by necessity.]

I will acknowledge that you chose Blixbo and a Coup operation passed under that leadership, Mr. Columbo, yes. What I'm not sure of... is how much obfuscation might be going on to hide people's loyalties or frame others in a bad light. I'm trying to get my head around it.

The names of the operations I got, though. I have no objection to that. Coin Box, Ham Slicer, and Shrimp-Fried Rice.

I'll also mention that the fact we know little about a person also makes them dangerous when we can get screwed over with a single error. They could've been trying to stay low the whole time just for this chance. Especially if they're that mole Valdragon was mentioning when he appointed Columbo. Remember? If that person is chosen, we're done for.

Yes, Ms. Frankenstein. I'm well aware of the dangers of electing the mole. And you might be right about the people laying low also being a threat. But my point remains the same. Are there really any other viable options at this point. We're near ruin as it is. And I don't really know who else to trust. Do you see the conundrum I'm trying to explain? Who else can we trust?

Wario smacks his lips upon hearing Jupiter talk about toaster pastries.

"YUMMY! HEY COLONEL! Can we get some pop tarts in here? I GOT THE SNACKIES! ...Eh-hem! The names mean nothing unless we know what the operations do. We all know about Sliced Ham and Vacation Time, but "Smooth Jazz?" "Shrimp-Fried Rice?" What the heck are those? If you tell the rest of us
whether the operations are coup or not, this can make the whole operation-counting stuff easier!"

In my case, I was handed all Loyalist operations. Unfortunately.
