No mozzarella?! No grape soda?! What kinda diner is this?! Fine, just get me a burger and some kinda soda, all right?

Mindy turns her attention to X.

Hey, how ya doin'? I'm Mindy.

Oof. Part of the burger is still frozen, and the soda is flat. (What kinda inconsistent diner is this?)

And maybe you figured this out already, but I'm Booker, and that's my sister Mavis. We're Ed's great nephew and niece, helping him this summer... yeah, you were probably told that part. Sorry. But yeah, Hi!

Mindy just throws her arms in the air before shoving away the food and drink. She can't get a decent meal here, what the hell.

"Uh... name? Yes, I am Eki. Nice to meet you, X."

Anya perks up when she's asked about her princess schnck.

"X! Cool name! I'm the crown princess of Iva Province! Part of the United Kingdoms of Sumeonya. If you haven't heard of it, don't worry! Eki and I are pretty sure we've been sent back in time."

"W-we... don't have a way to get back right now, unfortunately."

"OK, that's a real problem. But try not to worry about it right now, OK?"

"Right..." Eki finishes off their fries. They were surprisingly OK for salted potatoes.

Gooble then speaks to X.

"I can do some cool stuff too, but i guess i won't do it indoors."

He then starts eating again, and then looks toward Booker and Mavis.

"So have you ever dealt with these types of stuff before?"

[X is deciding to ignore the part about someone dying for now, for his sanity's sake. Least he was lucky enough to avoid walking in on the murder investigation this time...] "Time travel?! Well, what year is it for you?! Mom's dealt with time travel before! ...I think...! Maybe they could help you get back home?! If you don't find a way back before then, anyway! I know you just said not to worry, but it's better to have things taken care of faster, right?!"

[He then notices Mindy's frustration with her food and remembers—oh right, he came here for food as well as introductions, didn't he?] "Oh, uh...! Does anyone have a menu I could borrow?!"

[Caret]

"I'm guessing your mom's a scientist of some kind?" Anya asks X. "Well, that's a relief! Hopefully they'll get us back home when this is over!"

"Oh, uh... can tell you what year we're from." Eki says a number out loud. I'm letting you fill in the blank, but it's at least a thousand years from now, probably more than that.

"... that sounds like a big number!" Maple declares cheerfully.

[KungFuCutbug]

"A scientist, yeah! They do a lot of stuff with robots, AIs and machines! So a time machine should be right up their alley!" [X quickly scrounges his jacket's pockets for a pen, scribbling Eki's stated year onto a napkin. Yeah, that number is definitely not 2024.]

[Kennifer]

"Yeah, we don't live here year round, you'd have to ask Grunkle Ed about how often weird things happen. I don't think people have gotten killed before though."

[Oggy123]

"Whoa." Gooble replied to Eki.

He then talks to X. "Hey, i'm raised by scientists too!"

[Caret]

"Ey! Eki's a researcher/adventurer, and I do some science work myself when I'm not adventuring or princessing!" Yes, princess is now a verb because I say so.

"Uh... correct. More specifically, I'm a zoologist in training, but... I also work in other fields at times."

Eki then turns around to face Mavis. "Weird stuff? W-what do you mean, people have gotten killed recently?"

They then recall Victora telling them somebody died, which they subconsciously ignored until now. "Uh... Anya?"

"Somebody died?"
"Somebody died."

Both of them now have uneasy expressions.

"Hopefully, it's just a one-time thing, right?"

"H-How did this person die?"

[X almost looks like he wants to ask them not to discuss the circumstances of a death when there's people eating and he himself is about to eat. Among

other reasons(read: EFZPI 2 flashbacks)

he plans to keep to himself, for now.]

"Maybe we should discuss this later." Gooble said. "But yes, this whole situation seems creepy. But i'm sure we'll be okay!"

Gooble then eats some more.

"The researchers back home sometimes dealt with this stuff, to be honest. Usually mom and dad are there to make sure i'm safe. But they're not here, so i guess i'm a little more nervous now."

Maple pauses in his pancake nomming to rotate the situation in his mind a bit. "It's funny - I've dealt with a lot of stuff in my time, but never once a full-on murder. The local villains seem to love doing mind-control - beating the victim in any type of tough fight will snap 'em right out of that - but not so much killing."

"Mind control?"
Somehow, Zee has conveniently wound up on the table where everyone else is.

Anya tenses up upon hearing Maple mention mind control. Eki notices this and speaks up.

"Anya... a-are you okay?"

"Yep! Gonna be just fine, heh. Nothing major, that's all." Anya chuckles nervously.

"If you say so..." Eki scoots closer towards Anya just in case she needs to be comforted.

Gooble continues drinking and eating. Then, he wonders.

It does! Black Forest, coffee cake, vanilla with sprinkles, pineapple upside down cake...
