Destiny makes her way to the diner. "Before you ask, I'm just here for the coffee. Why're you visiting your old man, anyways? Got sick of your parents?

They thought it would be good for us, I guess

"Well, look at them, they're wrong, and you guys probably have encountered your first dead body."

"Yeah, this place looks like a chill enough place, but...we've already seen somebody die, and apparently it has a history of people going missing. They must've been pretty blind to all of that to send you here with only your ass old grandpa to protect you."

"Parents are like that. I bet they probably did just didn't want to deal with you for a few months."

Booker looks a little offended at that

Mavis just frowns, which is uncharacteristic enough compared to her usual cheerful demeanor that it's probably not difficult to tell she's upset.

Booker looks for something else to change the subject.

...Anyone seen Summer and Cherry today? Maybe they had to go to that convention they mentioned.

[The door to the diner swings open soon after Booker mentions the lack of Summer and Cherry, but instead of either of them, an unfamiliar face steps in: a thin, tall-ish man with oddly pale skin and bright cyan hair/stubble contrasting a monochromatic outfit.] "Hi! Am I late?! Sorry! I was just getting help moving in, and by the time I was done everyone else was gone! I asked around a bit and they said you were all here, so...!"

[A pause, as he notices the uncomfortable expressions of some of the patrons.] "...iiis this a bad time?!"

Maple points at X.C.O.P.Y. "Hey, it's some guy!"

Zee take note of the new arrival in the diner before returning to their stack of pancakes.

...Wait, yeah, guess they were supposed to check out today. Memory, huh?

Which means there's a vacancy, so you showing up makes sense. Grunkle Ed does like to keep the cabins booked. Glad you found your way over here.

"Hi, new guy!" Mavis says while waving enthusiastically.

[X beams a bit, waving to Booker and Mavis.] "Yeah! Hi! I'm the one who filled in that vacancy!" [He rubs the back of his head, looking a bit sheepish as water drips down his shoulders.] "I'm glad I managed to find my way over here too! It was way further out from the cabins than I thought it would be from the way Ed was describing it...!"

if this were a TV show, this would be a flashback montage showing him getting lost on the way to the diner, but it's not so this is just his version of the challenge

"...shit, am I lost?"

1. Find out which direction you need to be going to get back
[Well, okay, this isn't ideal. He's off to go introduce himself to the others, and already he's gone and gotten himself lost. This place is so much bigger than that island, sheesh! Well, maybe if he's lucky, he won't have been the first or only person to have GOTTEN lost here. He's going to hunt for any signs of a trail people might have taken to find their way to the village. Natural landmarks, manmade trail markers, even just grass that's flatter than the rest from being constantly walked on or the trees getting more and more sparse from encroaching civilization; anything that will lead him in the right direction.]

2. Make something to keep the rain off while you walk
[...Oh, right, the rain. That's gonna get irritating. Luckily, he has an easy solution! He takes the jacket hanging over his shoulders and pulls it over his head. This'll do nicely for now.]

3. Find something in the woods you can eat on the way so you have enough energy. If you need to, figure out how to cook it
[Ah, crap, right, he forgot to bring any food with him for the walk! ...or, more accurately, he didn't think he'd need to since his destination was a restaurant. He can't do much walking on an empty stomach. He doesn't have any weapons with him to do any sort of hunting, but his previous experiences have taught him to be resourceful. What better way to be resourceful than to go foraging? He'll scour the edges of the trail for anything he can find: fruits, berries, roots, leaves... some flowers like dandelions are edible, right?... bugs?? He remembers seeing crickets being sold as a snack at a gas station once. The bugs must be edible. Whatever works, works.]

While Anya is chewing down on her sandwich, Eki takes some time to talk to the new guy.

"Uh... hello, new person." They take a bite out of their fries.

Upon noticing the new arrival, Anya looks up from her food. "Hi bluehair! I'm Princess Anya Wannai? What's your name?"

[X takes a second to wrench out some of the water from his jacket outside before actually stepping into the diner instead of continuing to stand in the doorway.] "Oh, right, almost forgot! My name's X! Nice to meet you guys!!" [Another enthusiastic wave before he takes a seat, looking eagerly at Anya.] "A princess, huh...?! That's kinda cool! Where are you the princess of?!"

[Eesh, someone's excited to be here, huh.]

"Hi there, X!" Maple says, giving 'some guy' a wave now that he knows what's up. "My name's Maple!"

Gooble approaches the new guy.

"Hi there! My name's Gooble, who are you?"

[X waves back to Maple, then looks down at Gooble, a bit confused by its question.] "...uh...! I just introduced myself, actually! Did you miss it?! I'm X!" [He's not too bothered by having to repeat himself, at least. He's gotta make sure everyone knows who he is, after all. Then he can start figuring out who everyone else is in turn!]

Since you have not really been in these woods before, you have a bit of trouble figuring out which things people have used. You find your way eventually though. (Rolled 4.)
