The hammer also passes through its target like there's nothing there, which makes a lot less sense in this case because there definitely was something there and Yoshiko hadn't unthinkingly aimed for a body part the figure doesn't actually have.

Samantha does not seem amused at what Death says. ...I'd ask for some proof, however, you don't look like an ordinary person and somebody did die. So I'll go on that hypothesis for now.

...Hmmm. Possibly the fire was to get rid of evidence. Maybe the killer was using the clothing in some way for the murder or used it as a rag to clean up afterwards and wanted to make sure it was destroyed so it wouldn't help us figure this out.
