But they didn't think that it would simply wash up again!

The murderer would have gotten blood on their person, after all, neck wounds are known to gush! 

And had to wash it off! Perhaps in the ocean.

Or, possibly, change their clothes.

With that in mind...

Either the murderer still has blood on themselves, or their clothes would show signs of recently having been washed!

"Is this... blood?" Realizing this, she carefully gets out as she says, "Ugh, that's gross... I'm sorry for being a burden by accidentally ruining the evidence..."

Eyja then hopes that she won't be infected by the blood.
