Mario Party Overboarded: Second Roll
#80
been quite unlucky for the past few months, suits the gap between updates, it's been 13 days since the previous turn

Gold Saucer - Turn 14

It's Kirby's turn. Taking out his Super Mushroom Orb, he inhales the mushroom inside. Kirby glows like a lantern for a second before three Dice Blocks start appearing one by one above him as the Star Warrior decides to break all three of them in short order. Out of the Dice Blocks are a 9, a 2, and a 1, which results in a total move count of 12.

After his 3 first moves, Kirby stops by the Magic Cardpet Station to try to go to another island.

Goomba: Sure. Just pick up a card from this deck I just shuffled. The suit's where you'll go.

It's a 6 of Hearts. Kirby is disappointed as the Goomba solemnly tells him he'd have to make another loop around the island of hearts in order to use the station's services again.

Kirby ends up running across the Orb Space on the island of hearts again and receives a

from it. Kirby skips over the shop due to his full inventory and ends up landing on the Event Space he was just on in the beginning of the turn again. The Shy Guy walks in and gives him an irked look. Maybe he's acting like he was called a jolly fellow too?

Shy Guy: Uh... again? You're already full of items in your inventory. I suggest you start using your items as soon as possible if you keep arriving here. Sorry to break it to ya, buddy....

It's Nagito Komaeda's turn. Irritated with his luck turning upside-down he desires to have control over an asset of luck himself and uses the Sluggish Shroom Orb that he has in his inventory, and managed to have a 1 break out of the Dice Block that appeared over him. Landing on an Event Space, Nagito Komaeda is greeted by the former planet known as the World of Balance's legendary thief Locke Cole.

Locke: The name's Locke. You've got no idea how someone who looks as sleazy as me is stalking in casino territory. Listen up: we can do this behind the scenes so I don't get caught. I can do various exchanges with you if you'd accept. I've been eying that Cashzap Orb of yours... I have this Plunder Chest for offer. Is it something you want?

Nagito Komaeda refuses to make the trade. He's been keeping tabs on Captain Spaceboy since his big break last turn, and he's been hoarding his items for that reason or another one.

The Returner bandit scoffs and rolls his eyes.

Locke: Well, fine. If you insist. If you consider changing your mind at a later time, that'd be great.

The thief makes his leave for the turn.

It's Captain Spaceboy's turn. With overconfidence, he begins his turn by hitting... er... vaporizing a Dice Block. Figuratively, not literally, rolling the Dice Block gives him a 5. He scoops up a

from an Orb Space and ends his turn on a Blue Space, ending his turn with 84 coins.

It's Shinrabanshoumon's turn. From telepathic analysis, the digital kitsune decided Captain Spaceboy's had enough and uses her Chain Chomp Orb to summon a Chain Chomp. Her plan: get rid of as many of Captain Spaceboy's coins as much as possible and make them hers for the taking.

Chain Chomp: Arf arf! <You want me to steal something for you? No problem!>

The Chain Chomp bounces around the island of clubs and zeroes in on the space pirate before squishing him flat unders its massive body weight. It comes back to Shinrabnashoumon with a total of 15 coins stolen.

Chain Chomp: Yip woof woof! <What a steal! I've got 15 coins for the taking!>

Now with 69 coins, Captain Spaceboy has 3 less coins than Shinrabanshoumon as a result.

She hits the Dice Block and rolls a 2. Cue facepalm as she begrudgingly goes towards the Blue Space just a couple moves away and ends her turn with 72 coins, wondering why she's still getting all these low-numbered dice rolls.

It's a 4-player free-for-all romp! What'll be the minigame this time?

Turn 14 Mini-Game - Corkscrew Climb (video of minigame)

The players find themselves standing at the bottom of a corkscrew-shaped tower, teeming with Amps. Oarfish youkai Iku Nagae descends into the scene and gives the rundown on the minigame.

Iku: Seriously, if this wasn't the outside world, Tenshi'd kill me for having something like this pierce the heavens...

The Gensokyo native attempts to regain her composure.

Iku: Anyways, all you have to do is be the first one to make it to the top of this tower. The Amps seemed to be attracted to my electricity powers, so they're very riled up. I don't want to make you waste too much time so I'll be up at the top waiting for someone to reach me. I'll just let the kitsune go first. Kind of reminds me they're also the same youkai as one of the Great Sages' servants... hmm...

The atmosphere-watching servant of the Dragon Palace flies off in the distance as the players line up, ready to scale the tower and play the minigame.
  • The results are eventually: Captain Spaceboy in first, Shinrabanshoumon and Nagito Komaeda tied for second, and Kirby as the straggler of the group and the last to reach the tower.
  • It took multiple shocks but they eventually kept it together and managed to reach the tower's summit before Misstar brought them back to the board.
While everyone else is struggling to climb their way to the roof of the tower, Captain Spaceboy receives 10 coins from Iku Nagae after several seconds of negotiation. By the time Iku Nagae left, Kirby finally made his way to the top of the tower and was saddened to see everyone was already there before him.
