"Mm-hmm, just added right on to the end. My full name is Lorenminkho; got those syllables from some friends I met while traveling. And yeah, dragon names do tend to get long eventually."

"I can see why you'd usually just use the original two syllables." Amanda smiles a bit.

"Mm-hmm. Even at just four syllables it's already a bit long for casual conversation. On that note... I say as though this isn't the entire reason I brought up this subject, har har... Could I have a syllable from your name? If you want, of course."

Ame was just walking past them at that moment, having gotten some stuff from the bar. He hears Loren talk about syllables, and stops to ask: "What in the world are you talking about?"

As Loren talks about that, Maki immediately moved away from the previous conversation and runs to them, nearly knocking ocer Amerhyst on the process. You want something from their name- I mean! I'm willing to give you anything from my name! Besides, wouldn't it just...have a better ring than some boring and uh, no offense, kinda weird syllable from another name?

"Sure. I mean, as long as it wouldn't end up taking it off of my name to add it to yours. How do I do that, anyway?"

Amanda smiles; she figures this means Loren considers her a friend too.

''Amethyst didn't really mind Maki nearly knocking her over, as she's still wondering what tf Loren's on about.''

"So, uh - the magic only works properly if it's entirely my own idea, which means you're out of consideration now," Loren says to Maki, looking as sheepish as an otter can. "I'd have mentioned that earlier, but I'd already had the idea to ask Amanda before I brought up the subject, so technically if she had volunteered it would've still worked...

"And no, it doesn't take it out of your name," she says to Amanda. "You can't give the same syllable to another dragon later, if you ever meet one - which maybe you actually might if I ever get out of here and back to Elcenia? Er, that's another subject, though.

"And the way it works is, you take my current full name - Lorenminkho - I can, in principle, write that down for you if you need it, but I'm guessing you can remember it on your own - add on whatever syllable from your name you think sounds good, and say the new name with the new syllable added onto the end."

Maki looks to Loren, her voice a bit more assertive this time. Come on, have you ever tried? Look, if you just don't want my name, you could have just told me you know...

"Okay... I can definitely do that, yeah. Should I do it now, or..."

To pass the time, Temple resumes gambling. Although the unpredictable nature of the games is a huge turn-off, the man with OCD finds it just as exciting as fighting Batman.

''Amethyst, now fully understanding what is happening, says to Loren:'' "Well, if she's not giving you any, I'm willing to do so."

Loren lets out a tiny growl at Maki and Amethyst. "What part of 'has to be entirely my idea' was unclear to you -

"Maybe let's go somewhere private and not be a spectacle for these people," she grumbles to Amanda.

"Okay, yeah, somewhere private is probably better. One of the bedrooms or suites maybe, since everyone looks to be pretty busy with the gambling and stuff right now?"

Amethyst decides to head back to the room she and Nephrite chose to stay in for now, and, after closing the door, Ame brings out some bottles she had stashed within her Gem, aaaaaaaaaaannnnnnnnnnnd I'ma gonna stop narrating these two here for now. I'll check back in on them later.

Maki seems to be...pretty annoyed with the fact that Loren's just brushing her off. She takes a deep breath, and...

Look, are you just gonna associate me with that strange purple alcoholic?! I mean...look! I guess if you just don't want to do a favor...I THOUGHT I was being nice, but I guess that doesn't work...

"Yes! You are correct! It literally does not work that way, which I have said twice - three times, now! I didn't invent the rules of dragon name magic, you know!" Loren's getting real annoyed about this.

Amanda seems unnerved by... all of this.

"Let's just go somewhere private, then."

[wingedcatgirl]

Loren quickly takes a breath to calm herself. "Yes. Let's do that."

[Kennifer]

"Okay. Come on, I'll find somewhere."

Amanda's going to find somewhere quiet and unoccupied, away enough from the others here that she and Loren can have some privacy.

Loren goes back to chilling on Amanda's shoulder while she looks for a place and tries not to think about Maki and Amethyst for now.

Amanda's just... checking rooms for both being unlocked and empty.

Maki glares at Loren and Amanda from a distance.

The NERVE of that bitch. What the hell?! Maki just wanted to reach out, and she just got fucking rebuffed like that?!

Maki Kisugi did not get rejected like that. At least, not without going down. She keeps watching Loren and Amanda, trying to see where they're heading.

Eventually the two did in fact come upon an open and empty room.

Amanda checks around to make sure the private room is, in fact, private.

"Okay, so I just say your full name with the new syllable added to the end?"
