#1
Plot:
You wake up by the scent of dust in the air followed by the sound of a grandfather clock's twelve chimes. As you open your dreary eyes, you see you're not alone. 15 others were just waking up as well. Once you get your bearings, and discover that no doors in this place lead out and no windows can't be broken, you meet them.

A cloaked figure, who informs you all that you're trapped in this ghostly manor they own. There is no way out, you're all stuck here. . . Well, that's not entirely true. After all, there is one way out of here. For you see, only twelve of you are actual living, breathing beings. The other four? Ghosts, planted amongst you all tasked with blending in. Tasked, also, to kill you during the night at the cloaked figure's beck and call.

Can you solve the mystery of not just the Ghosts' identities, but also the mystery of this mansion and your being here? Or will you all be nothing more than Dead Men Walking?

SIGN-UPS CLOSE AT 2/17, 10:00 PM CST

Gameplay
Taking an approach to games like Mafia and the fellow murdergames here, where 12 Living players have 4 Ghost players amongst them. The goal for the Living players are to leave the mansion, and to that, they must suss out the ghosts and get rid of them. The goal for the Ghost players are to eliminate enough living players to win the game and be brought back to life to leave the manor.

During the day, no murders will be able to occur during this time. The group is free to investigate the mansion for clues. Clues on who the ghosts could possibly be. Discover the Cloaked Figure's identity. Find out just what the secrets this mansion holds, and what the Cloaked Figure's true goal is in running this game? During this time, they may call a meeting in the Exorcising Room if they have a suspicion on who a Ghost could be. Skipping a vote is allowed if everyone feels like they don't have enough evidence to fully pin someone. If a vote goes through and someone obtains the most votes, then they will be Purged.

Of course, during the day with no murder, the group can also choose to simply interact with one another and have some leisurely time to themselves if they don't feel like investigating clues of the mansion. However you choose to use this time is up to you.

But this is still a murdergame. Once night time comes, everyone will return to their rooms. It's during this time that the ghosts may choose to act. After discussing who they'll kill, who'll do the killing, and what occurs, the murder will occur. And anytime a murder has been done, the morning after, an investigation regarding their murder will follow. Afterwards, everyone will enter the Exorcising Room to discuss the evidence and find the killer. Whoever receives the most votes at the end will be Purged. You'll be able to see if the one Purged was a Ghost by looking at the four lit wax candles in the same room. If it still burns, that means they voted off an innocent. But if one of the flames had been extinguished, that confirms the Ghost has been busted.

However, the Ghosts aren't the only ones capable of killing. If you're a Living player, and your character have suspicions that can't wait till the morning to call a meeting, they can take matters into their own hands. By killing who they suspect is a Ghost. If they get it right, then at the next meeting in the Exorcising Room, they'll see a fire on the wax candles have died. If they get it wrong, the fire will still be burning, and they'll soon realize they killed an innocent.

To prevent a full slaughterfest during the night time section, only two deaths can occur at night. Any attempt to kill further after the two deaths at that night will be nulled and not go through. A Ghost and a Living can kill on the same night, another Living can't kill in the event of this. However, if the Ghosts decide not to kill at that night, it is possible for two Living members to kill someone. If a Living kills a Ghost that wasn't the one doing a murder, the Ghosts' murder still goes through. But if a Living can kill a Ghost that was the one killing, then the Ghosts' kill will be canceled and effectively save their intended target's life.

Investigation for both the manor/murders will be done with RNG rolls of 1-10. The better the rolls, the better the clues you get during the investigation. Bad rolls don't turn up that much help, and if you roll bad enough, it could be possible you destroy or ruin a piece of evidence that could blow the case open.

Abilities
Both the Living and Ghost have the ability to kill at night. The former has to tell me privately in DMs who they're killing, how they kill them, and where they kill them. The latter is more or less the same, but will also have to include which of the ghosts they're killing. Only two players can kill at night, anymore will not go through. Of course, the ghosts can choose not to kill at night if they find it best not to. Same with the living. If a Living player kills a Ghost player that's murdering the night, the Ghosts' murder will be cancelled and their intended victim will survive. A murder is not necessary every night, it is up to the Ghosts if they want to kill, and up to the Livings if they want to take the risk to take out a Ghost.

During investigation, rolls will be made by RNG 1-10. As stated, the better the rolls, the better your investigations go. The worse your rolls are, the less likely you'll receive concrete clues. Apart from murder investigations, searching around the mansion is also something players can do to solve mysteries that don't pertain to the murders. It's entirely possible you can discover hints as to who the ghosts are during these. Puzzles may very well show up from time to time.

As for the meeting, only one can be held IC day. If you vote to skip the execution for that meeting, you cannot call another one and must wait till the next day. So you need to be extra sure if you have enough evidence during your investigations to call a meeting. Also, a good majority of players must be in agreement to hold a meeting. in order to call meetings, the majority must say/call a meeting for one to go through. Just to ensure that majority wish for a meeting to be called and not accidentally have a meeting be called when everyone isn't ready. One person cannot call a meeting to cancel the group's investigation, this game is as much about cooperation as it is about deceiving. Most of you must agree to host a meeting.

Rules
1. The usual rules of murdergames apply here.
2. Since the roles of Ghost are going to be randomized, make sure you apply a character that you are okay with potentially being the scum of this game.
3. This should be common knowledge: Be nice to the other players. If being a jerk is IC for your character to do so, that's fine. But being a jerk to everyone OOC? That isn't going to fly.
4. No god-modding or taking control of others' characters. Your character is yours, that's the only one you should be controlling.
5. Please try to be somewhat active for the game. Don't turbo lurk as the game goes on. If you're going to or need to drop out, please let us know so we can replace you.
6. Once your character dies in the game, please refrain from commenting in the thread. You can still spectate the game if you wish. When you die, please do not give out information or hints as to who the killer was outside the game.
7. Please post IC in the game thread, no OOC comments.
8. @LavenderDream is the co-host of this game. Please listen to them when they say things.
9. Most importantly, have fun with your char and the game! If you have any questions, please don't be afraid to ask. Also, please bear with me here since I'm a little new here at hosting. Things probably won't be perfect, but I hope people have fun in the end either way!

Name: Allen Wood
Gender/Pronouns: Gender? Isn't it obvious that I'm the manliest man here in these parts? So much so, I cook my meal with grenades! I'm that tough! (laughs nervously)
Background: Allen Wood comes from very humble beginnings. He got his start in the theater scene in Hollywood before he was discovered by movie producers, who liked his looks and made him into a massively successful action movie star. He has become one of the biggest box office draws in recent years with his own brand of action movies that harken back to the Stallone and Schwarzenegger days.
Personality: Allen might act like the toughest and manliest man around. But it's all it is: an act. Underneath that bravado is somebody who is incredibly cowardly. Someone who's just all talk and doesn't really walk the walk. And being in a house with ghosts, he might very well be out of his element.
Additional notes: He also carries knives, guns and grenades with him. But they don't work because they're all props, and as such are harmless. Not that it will stop him from using them since he really gets into his act. He also speaks in a bold green color.
Appearance/Image: Dressed in military gear, he stands at 6'2 and a muscular 260 lbs.

Name: Sam Winchester
Gender/Pronouns: He/Him
Background: Was a college student studying pre-law, until his girlfriend got killed by a demon and his demon-hunter father disappeared around the same time. Now he travels the country with his older brother Dean hunting down supernatural baddies.
Personality: Intelligent, empathetic, but also can be *very* hot headed.
Abilities: Mostly athletic, competent fighter, and a good knowledge of identifying and fighting the supernatural. ...Has also been known to exorcise people with his mind, though, due to being tainted with demon blood.
Additional notes: From the series Supernatural. Let's say this one of the later seasons where his demonic-related abilities aren't able to be used. Will speak like this.
Appearance/Image: Very tall (6'4"), light brown hair, brown eyes. See picture.

Name: Margaret Hodgins

Gender/Pronouns: Female, She/Her

Background: Margaret's parents died when she was very small, so she was raised by her grandmother. She mostly attended private schools and went on to get a college degree in history. She also enjoys collecting antiques, especially ones that have historical significance or belonged to someone she found personally interesting (such as one of her ancestors or something that was passed down in the family of someone she knew, maybe something that had belonged to one of her teachers or something).

Personality: She has an air of formality about her and tends to be quite polite. She may seem a bit stuffy at first but definitely not unfriendly. She's quite curious and will try to get to know people. Also due to the fact she's studied history, and thus a whole lot of various atrocities, she is not the type to be fazed by much (including grisly murders). It isn't that she won't care if she sees the corpse of someone she knew or something but she's really good at compartmentalizing that sort of thing so she'd be able to focus on a case.

Abilities: She's quite an eager learner due to her natural curiosity. She has knowledge of history and antiques. She is good at getting along with people and putting any annoyance or disgust aside if there's something that needs to be done.

She is also quite good at logic and word based puzzles. (Yeah, she plays Wordle every day.)

Additional notes: She's not good at things like sports or dancing but good at things that require fine motor skills. (For example, she'd get hit right away in dodgeball but she's got beautiful handwriting.) (now if the RNG will work with this...

Appearance/Image: Slightly taller than average and slim. Fair skin, chin-length wavy black hair with sideswept bangs, sapphire blue eyes. Usually dresses in a black-and-white blouse with a colored ribbon (usually green or blue) at her neck and gray trousers. Will use this text color.

Name: Novice

Gender/Pronouns: She/her

Background: An aspiring magician that uses gems. Or well, would be a magician if she had mana. Alas, there's no monster to harvest it from.
... not much of a background, huh? Though I think she's just recently became a 'true' mage as indicated by her 'name'. The kinda mage that hurls magic gems at demons. I wonder if she set off on a quest of her own? Maybe in a pursuit of power, searching for something as great as the Gem of Eternity. Or maybe her quest was more noble, such as stopping the demons created by the folly of the one who sought the Gem of Eternity. Who knows...?

Personality: A bit of a hikkikomori. Will stay in their room, only using a magical spell called the Orb of Presence to project her presence around the manor. speaks in lowercase to reflect it.

Abilities:
- Mana: Fuels all of her abilities. Regenerates at a snail's pace.
- Gemcraft: The practice of utilizing the magical powers contained within gemstones. Too costly in mana for her to really do, so we can already throw making gems beyond Grade 1 (triangular shaped, weakest) or combining out. She can throw a gem as a bomb though.
- Terraforming: Can make water trenches, alongside creating small towers. Costly, but still possible.
- The Orb of Presence: An orb that projects an image of her. The projection lacks the white in her irises and doesn't automatically update with her current appearance. So she could take off her hat and the Orb of Presence would still show her with her hat on.
- Cursor Wand: A wand that directs her magic, as precise as clicking on something with a cursor.
- Cuteness: She's pretty cute~

Additional notes:
- The tip of her hat holds a Grade 1 poison (green) gem.
- Small. Is in the mysterious height known as "4'13".
- Speaks in green, alongside having lowercase as mentioned previously.

And then he got transported to Hisui by Arceus-knows-who, getting hit with amnesia in the process. Possibly. I still haven't figured out which Ingo I'm using.
Personality: From his frown, you'd expect a stoic, calm man. . And you're kinda right. However, he's actually quite chipper and talkative, all things considered. He's. . not the best at socialising, though, often saying things rather abruptly.
Abilities: He's a proficient Pokémon battler, and an expert on trains.  . .yeah that's about it—
Additional notes: “All aboard!”

Name: Yuuta and Suzume
Gender/Pronouns: Male and female
Background: Yuuta is a 13-something year old schoolboy, living a mostly normal life with his mother. Suzume is a sparrow who suddenly gained the powers of a magical girl from an unknown phenomenon. Flying from an unknown enemy, she arrived at Yuuta's home, who currently keeps her as a pet. Secretly, Suzume now lives a life of fighting evil, in addition to regular sparrow things, but Yuuta keeps it a secret from his friends.
Personality: Yuuta is a somewhat nervous, but ultimately kind and compassionate person, while Suzume is excitable, impulsive, and quite idealistic.
Abilities: Yuuta has no abilities beyond what a normal boy can do. Suzume, however, can fly and shoot magic spells from her beak.
Additional notes: Yuuta speaks in brown. Suzume cannot speak at all, being a sparrow, and she can only chirp.

Gender/Pronouns: Male, He/Him
Background: Kokichi is the leader of a group of pranksters known as D.I.C.E, who mess around with people and in general loves to troll people. Besides this, nothing is known about his background, besides him maybe being some sort of thief.
Personality: Kokichi is a paranoiac liar who loves to mess with people and annoy them - he has absolutely no trust for anyone and hates murder above all else, viewing it as the worst crime imaginable. He also is easily pushed in the worst of circumstances to do horrific things to save his own skin even breaking his own code at times.
Abilities: Supernatural analysis skills.
Additional notes: "Speaks in purple, nishishi! Also has a habit of calling people [name]-chan."

Name: Youmu Konpaku
Gender/Pronouns: Female, she/her
Background: Swordswoman and gardener of Hakugyokurou, the Netherworld court. Being Yuyuko Saigyouji's faithful servant, she's caught herself in multiple incidents in Gensokyo, some with her involved in the cause, others with her involved in resolving it, and many involved with either the Hakugyokurou or spirits.
Personality: Straightforward, diligent, somewhat immature, easily manipulated, and sensitive to the point that she's ironically scared of ghost stories, dares, and the dark.
Abilities: Aside from the usual danmaku bullshit nearly every touhou char in the mainline games have, she wields two, powerful swords and capable of spontaneous, rapid movement.
Additional notes: Is as cool as an air conditioner on the temperature setting 25 degrees Celcius.

Name: Old Rutstein
Gender/Pronouns: He/Him
Background: From the horrible plane of Innistrad, Rutstein lives as a travelling "merchant", who sells any of the finest goods and contrabnd you could wish for. Whatever he's got, he's got it cheaper than anywhere else you'll look*, stakes for vampires, holy water by the gallon, and things that can deal with ghosts (unless, of course, those ghosts are part of a social deduction game).
Personality: Business-minded, doesn't care greatly about the safety of others, won't do anything he's not paid enough for, has a healthy amount of paranoia for someone whose home has vampires and werewolves.
Abilities: "Protected" by various holy symbols, has probably got experience in murder, experience with ghosts, skilled "salesman".
Additional notes: This is his speech.

Name: The Vengeful Ghost of the Earl of Thornwickley, Morcar.

Gender/Pronouns: Male, He/Him.

Background: Claims to be the ghost of a mid-eleventh century English earl from an apparently nonexistent location who died of a fall down a staircase on the way to join in the "everyone claims the throne of england" wars on the side of King Malcom of Scotland, who wasn't even participating. He was then either confused with the more famous Earl Morcar from the north, or erased from history for being an embarrassment. He certainly seems spectral enough for some of those claims to be plausible, and his visibly broken nose and bruised face aren't going away.

Personality: He's the sort who complains constantly about other people from his ostensibly native time period as well as how far the world has fallen now. He thinks the United Kingdom is a good idea though, and claims he came up with that idea by trying to get Malcom of Scotland to take over. He's really bad at explaining his logic to others without visual aids, not helped by a preternatural ability to divert any topic to why a specific long-dead person was terrible. He is, after all, called the "vengeful" ghost for a reason. It's petty vengeance, but revenge all the same.

Abilities: Can do generic ghost things, like walk through walls. Also, he can turn invisible and levitate and move objects. As generic ghosts do.

Additional Notes: Bring Back the right "gh" sound you Low-Born Lake Scum!

Appearance: Dressed in torn, mud-stained fancy clothes (for the period), with a perpetually broken nose and bruised and scraped arms and legs, and a dented earl's crown. He's also bluish and translucent, as generic ghosts tend to be. He's quite large in both height and weight. (If he actually weighed anything consistently, being a ghost and all.) He has a walrus mustache and no beard. His hair was probably brown. EDIT: Image happened.

Name: Mettaton

Gender/Pronouns: male; he/him

Background: (Undertale spoilers) Mettaton was built by Dr. Alphys to provide some good ol' entertainment to the masses of the Underground. Actually, the "built" part is a half-truth. In reality, Mettaton is a ghost with dreams of performing for humanity, so he got Alphys to build a physical body for him. Ever since Frisk set monsterkind free, he's been touring the surface with his troupe (which consists of his cousin Nasptablook, Shyren, and... Burgerpants.).

Personality: At first glance Mettaton acts like your typical TV show host who's willing do anything to boost his ratings, even it if means killing a few people here or there. However, his "killer robot" thing is an act. When not playing the role of a villain, he's pretty friendly to most people, assuming that you are not a certain long-suffering fast food worker.

Abilities: Like all other monsters, Mettaton can use magic to summon projectiles. He can also transform from his regular box form to his humanoid Mettaton EX form if someone flips that switch on his back.

Additional notes: For lore purposes, this version of Mettaton hails from after the True Pacifist route. Speaks in ALL CAPS in his box form, and this beautiful shade of purple as Mettaton EX.

Name: The Conductor
Gender/Pronouns: He/Him
Background: As a wee lil' lad, The Conductor lived in the middle of nowhere, watching TV every day almost religiously. One day, he saw some sort of show talking about "awards", and Conductor was instantly mesmerized. Both because it was a shiny trophy and because it awakened his desire to be a movie director! So, when he got a lot older, the Conductor bought an old studio called Dead Bird Studio...not knowing someone else had also bought it, his rival, DJ Grooves. This started a decades long rivalry between the two directors to see which is the better director. After about 41 years of this, The Conductor and the idiotic penguin peck neck (in his words) met a gremlin named Hat Kid, who interfered with their 42nd battle for the trophy by helping both producers out, leading to the Conductor's eventual defeat for the first time in 42 years. So now, he's kinda salty, looking to reclaim his former glory.
Personality: He's rude and abrasive, acting like a jerk to anyone he meets. He has a very bad temper, getting *incredibly* angry if anything doesn't go his way. Speaking of, he's incredibly petty. Cross him and he'll do anything in his power to get back at you, no matter how little of a thing you did. He is shown to have a bit of a softer side, eventually growing to respect and enjoy Hat Kid's company for example. But it's pretty darn hard to actually get to that stage in the first place.
Abilities: It's kind of hard to differentiate abilities from "special effects" in his fight, but these are all the abilities I could find for him.
- Incredibly fast. He can create afterimages with his knife with relative ease, and can jump around a large arena in a single leap.
- He can create "photos" of his attacks, which when used, will do whatever attack they are a photo of.
- Telekinesis. Shown with his many throwing knife attacks, anything he telekinetically holds gains a red aura around it.
- Not really an ability perse, but he assumably has demolitions knowledge, being able to create a bomb capable of defeating Hat kid and one that was able to destroy his entire train (in his own words). Some pretty big booms if I do say so myself.
Additional notes: He speaks in a stereotypical Scottish accent.

Name: Dr. Sylvester “Sylvie” Ashling

Gender/Pronouns: Male (he/him)

Background: Sylvie doesn't actually have that much in the way of a backstory, but he's no less an interesting character. He's “Inscribed”, which basically means that there's a word that is inextricably linked to your soul, called an “Epithet”. In this case, his epithet is “Drowsy”, which allows him to make people fall asleep, manifest a person's worst fear, and even manifest objects from dreams. He's 15 years old, and yet, despite that, has already graduated college with a certified psychology degree.

Personality: Sylvie acts very smug and condescending at times, believing he's above, if not everyone else, then at least a large percentage of people. He's also not that great of a judge of character in the moment, which is pretty ironic for a psychologist. However, behind this cold exterior lies a good guy. He'll offer people free counseling if they're feeling especially down, and what's more, if you do manage to get on his good side, then he'll fight for you to the bitter end.

Abilities: As I said, he has the Epithet “Drowsy”, which allows him to put people to sleep with a gold-colored dust, as well as manifest objects from dreams. This usually takes the form of sheep mooks, which pack a surprising amount of bite. His more advanced skills include “Nightmare Fuel”, which brings a target's worst fears to life, and “Dream Big”, in which he manifests a giant, hulking, inexplicably Scottish minotaur (who is also a doctor) around his body, which he can then use to whale on attackers. Don't worry so much about the last two, though; usually, he only saves those attacks for people who REALLY piss him off.

Additional notes: Usually speaks in teal-colored text. Should, for any reason, he end up transforming into Dr. Beefton, he speaks in (mostly) ALL-CAPS ORANGE!

Appearance/Image:      (regular form),      as DR. BEEFTON!
For my next trick, how about I kick your ass?
