It's a nice morning to start the day. You are part of a hiking group among several others, with a hiking instructor leading the way. You all work your way up a pathway that increases upwards a large hill with a pathway. As you all look down, you're getting to enjoy some of the view. All the tall, leafy green trees, the calming sounds of the river, the sight of beautiful birds flying across the sky. You all are enjoying the nice atmosphere Mother Nature has to offer.

"It's beautiful, isn't it? Just wait till we get all the way to the top. The view up there is a sight to behold," the hiking instructor says warmly. "And while we enjoy the sights, we can all sit down and have lunch. How's that sound? We're almost there."

You eagerly look forward to seeing the view, and with the promise of food, it just gets you all excited to finally reach that point. Eventually, after a nice trek up the hill, you and your group finally made it. You all step on a perched cliff. And here it is. You can really see the forest out in the open. The sight of green leafy trees, the flowing river, all kinds of animal like such as beavers and squirrels frolicking around.

"What do you think? That's Blackmoon Forest down there. Isn't that one of the most beautiful sights you've ever seen? I've heard so many bad stories about that place, but those boogeymen don't know what they're talking about. We're all about to head down there later and see it for ourselves. Get an up-close look at everything. And show you all it's not so bad."

The instructor puts down the walking stick.

"We've been walking all morning. Let's take ourselves a break and have lunch while we take in this view," the instructor says, clearly enamored by the sights here. You and everyone pull out your meals from your backpacks while you all get to relax and eat. You have heard some of the rumors of Blackmoon Forest. But those are just urban legends. Or are they?

A mysterious black-haired girl with rabbit ears and a... surprisingly fancy suit is among this group...

... (sighs) ... So this is what nature's like... It's almost a different world altogether... And to think... I've never been outside a city before... This is nice.

"Hmm? Haven't seen someone like that. You sure she was part of the hiking group?"

A young woman shrugged a bit as she bit into the apple she'd brought with lunch, tossing a lock of ginger hair over her shoulder.

Truth be told, Quinarva wasn't part of the group to start with-but once you're spotted, it's hard to avoid your own curiosity and meet the humans you found. Many times as she followed the troupe, she lagged behind and nearly lost them. And she felt free to sample whatever leaf looked tender enough.

Now, she loved the sensation of taking a running leap off a cliff into the forest below. She did it all the time. The nymph considered doing it here, but figured it would get everyone too worried about her. "Isn't this where some woman was killed? A demigod?" Her Grecian accent was clear as day.

"That there's the spirit of a legitimate witch haunting Blackmoon Forest and whoever enters that forest never came back?" Abigail Williams responded to the hiking instructor when they mentioned the rumors about the fabled forest. "I know quite a few things about witches."

Yeah, of course, we were just talking a few minutes ago. I thought she was right behind me.

[Florien]

Two huge lizardpeople in heavy armor who've been walking with the group essentially unquestioned sit down. They've been somewhat loudly predicting everyone's death and complaining about things that certain members of the group "always do why do you always do that", despite those things not having happened to anyone's memory.

Sooo! We're... almost there yeah? Past that tree.
It varies. I think it varies between iterations. Once we got over that hill, once we didn't.
...Oh yeah we're eating now we're like a couple minutes off.

The blue-eyed one pulls out a slab of vaguely edible-looking dried meat.

Hello people would you like to share this food in exchange for being friends or something?

Abigail spotted the two lizard-people and looked at them curiously.
"Sure," She said. "I'll just introduce myself. You can call me Abby and I'm technically twelve."
Abigail then hands them a pair of granola bars she packed.

Quinarva curled her nose at the meat, distancing herself immediately. "Do [i]not[/I share that with me."

[Mr. Lee Hammer]

"Yeah, that's what people say, but it's all scare tactics. People really are naive. There aren't witches here. They're all just fables."

The instructor turned to Taria.

"A friend you said, wasn't on my list of people whom I'm going with today. Maybe she just chose to stay behind or went with another group?", the instructor shrugged.

"I'll be willing to trade these for some of that meat," Abigail stated.

[Kennifer]

"Well, if she was here I'm sure she'll be along any minute."

The woman pauses, pondering the stories of this forest... she had to admit it was part of the reason she signed up. Curiosity about the whole thing and all.

She then smiled a bit at the lizardpeople.

"Ooh, that some kind of jerky? Looks good. Would you like to trade for some of these?"

She held up a packet of Cool Ranch flavored Doritos.

Abigail hears the doubt Taira and the hiking instructor has over witches.
"I can assure you that real witches are out there. Sure, they're rare, and there are a lot of imposters, but they're still out there. Met one myself long ago and she cursed me, not that I blame her for it."

[PointMaid]

Exactly!, Taira told the instructor. Fables.

You're sure Brenna wasn't on the list? I was sure I saw her not that long ago.

... Who knows... In a world where objects can come to life and get human bodies... I think magic could plausibly exist... But I think these particular tales are just fabrications designed to manipulate. Lies, I'm saying. ... Maybe what's inside isn't actually a witch. Maybe it's some sort of secret base... or some crime scene intentionally hidden in there... or something like that. Or maybe I'm just crazy and this is just a case of fiction for fun that got... WAY out of hand. Whatever floats your boat.

The girl with rabbit ears starts taking out an assortment of food items and starts eating...

Wait, is there a map for that forest or something?

Lukanios chops some chunks of the dried meat using a sword, casually ignoring the rules of sword maintenance and good sense, and tosses them to those offering to trade.

The instructor chuckles a bit at Abby's comments.

"You're like some other people I know. Real tin-foil hat wearing types. Just trust me, nothing bad will happen, not under my watch."

The instructor then pulls out a piece of paper from a shirt pocket.

"Let's see here. Brenna you said her name was?". Fingering through the paper, the instructor looks at Taria and informs her "No, no Brenna on the list. Your friend is probably in another group. Did you all schedule to be together in this group? There might have been a computer mistake."

A purple haired teenager trails behind the rest of the group, holding a camera in one hand and a granola bar in the other.

Well, just because you haven't seen a witch yet doesn't mean that you should doubt their existence entirely.

She holds the granola bar up in the air for those wanting to trade.

Well, yeah, I was pretty sure we were scheduled to be together, she was the one who dragged me out on this little sightseeing trip because she wanted me to see the 'haunted' forest... you should've heard her go on about it...
