In one of the most inexplicably popular instances of bullshit-that-math-says-is-dumb that people will buy, DNA tests that purport to tell people where geographically their ancestors came from.

This isn't actually possible, all it can tell you is what percentage of your genome is correlated, which means that any number below roughly 30% is completely meaningless, but people keep buying them for whatever reason.

I need to come up with some dumb bullshit that people will pay money for despite it not making mathematical or scientific sense, or being trivially easy to do but sounding way harder than it is.

Totally unrelated, I can tell you whether you're descended from someone famous if you give me fifty dollars
