Romero isn't unconscious, he's just convulsing on the ground from accidentally tasing himself. Your hitting him just causes him to writhe a little more.

Meh, I'm sure he'll come to....

[4]: Well, you'd love to do that, if you had handcuffs. But as it is, you don't seem to.

[5] [5] on restraining Romero. Eventually, a tangle of random wires, string, and other things are used to bind his hands as you drag him off for questioning, successfully.

Meanwhile, Scott screams for help. [6]: After some negotiation, a civilian calls an ambulance. But since this game takes place in an ill-defined location in the US, they don't take Scott anywhere or treat him for anything, because he doesn't have insurance and can't afford the 5000$ for touching the vehicle. He's out of the sewer though.

This is fine. Totally!

Well, at the very least he's trying to stay calm. With all this in mind though. . Yeahhh, no. He's. Not doing well at all.

WHAT?! What do you want? What is it you need to know!? TELL ME WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW OH GOD DON'T KILL ME!

>Oh. Well, that was a little pointless, but you might as well help get Scott patched up since you're there.

>After which, ask around (you were totally caught up on the case files the whole time) and try to find out who exactly is it that resides in this “janitor's closet” by the warehouse.

[5]:With the power of a copious amount of popsicle sticks, Scott's wrists are properly splinted.

[9]: No one's heard anything about someone living in the warehouse, nor the attached "janitor closet". In fact, most people didn't pay much attention to the warehouses at all. However, according to witness accounts, the day guard seems to spend most of their time asleep, so really, anyone could be getting in then. One guy tries to connect the Strickland Employees (specifically as "secret CIA agents") to the warehouse, and claims they're hiding the "Satanic Communism Orphan Buffet" in there. Another seems to have been watching the news that morning, and instead tries to rope you into a plot to assassinate Chief Clearday, because "He's vulnerable, he'll have to make public appearances now, and someone could jump out and POW".

  • What the fuck happened to Mathra at Block 7.
  • What made the fucking construction site at Block 9 collapse.
  • The fuck's been happening in the sewer that fire flew out of it.

I DON'T KNOW! I don't know any "Mathra"! As for the collapse, it was the explosion last night! I think! And HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO KNOW WHY THE SEWER EXPLODED!? STOP ASKING QUESTIONS I DON'T KNOW THE ANSWER TO!

He sounds terrified... then he calms down enough to think.

Wait, why ARE you asking me these questions? Why have you dragged me here? It can't be to ask questions I'd have no way to know the answer to.
I am the They who says it!
Fischer returns.

So, any progress?
hey who turned out the lights?
If by "progress", you mean everyone falling into the manholes and breaking their limbs, then yes, I'd say your progress is impressive.
The Spymaster snarks over the earpieces.
Oh, and I'm SURE they achieved OTHER things too.

Also, to be clear, you're interrogating Romero at the police base, right?
I am the They who says it!
As confusing as a splinter made of popsicle sticks may be, Scott's grateful that his broken wrists are supported. He looks at Kai with a baffled yet happy look on his face. ". .thanks. .?"

… we're professionals, right? How are we all falling into the same fucking manhole?

Unimpressed, Fischer heads to the warehouses, and speaks with whoever works there.

I have some questions I would like to ask, would you mind?
hey who turned out the lights?
The guard, asleep in their green, puffy jacket, despite the fact that it's already quite warm out, suddenly wakes up as Dr. Fischer comes by.

Yes. I do mind. Some people show up with a warrant and bother me multiple times. They come back and bother me about a key. Hell, a couple days ago, one of you knocked me off my chair. You police consultants, or whatever you are, have done NOTHING but find new and exciting ways to bother me.

They glare.

So, what is it this time? Perhaps you want to know the recipe for pancakes? You want to borrow a waffle iron? You need the keys to my car? What is it, or did you wake me up for nothing?

Meanwhile, at the police base, where Romero has been dragged... Police roll a [9] to recognize Anaheim as a wanted criminal. Several members of the department have quietly surrounded the door to the interrogation building. Or they tried to be quiet. They got a [3] on that, so you know that they're outside. What are you going to do?
I am the They who says it!
I need to know who was here last night, that is all.
hey who turned out the lights?
I mean, Sand's the guy who works the night shift. He'd know. Why're you asking me? Can't you people let me sleep for once? This job was a hell of a lot easier before you came here and started bothering me.

The guard gets up and moves their folding chair into the shade.

Look, this is private property. You shouldn't even be here. Now, I'm being very generous in letting you people stay around. So, you have any questions I can answer, or you just going to bother me about stuff I couldn't possibly know?

They sit back down on their chair.
