Any mention of why everything on that side of the Catkin (the paper, the lawn care, and antiques shop) are closed - a shady land developer buying everything up, maybe?

Back into the GROOVE, we got rolls to make.

Seven attempts to find more commonalities between the killings. [?]: It looks like the throughline is that every single one was stabbed in the chest and shot somewhere in the Catkin, and that no witnesses came forward. It also looks like the first crime scene was a bit of a mess, with a lot more evidence, (found by CSI the one time they actually did their job on block seven). DNA evidence was found, but it didn't match anyone in the criminal DNA database.

Runner Five goes newspaper reading. [9]: It works great. The building is apparently the most recently closed, so most things inside are intact. Including a huge stack of archives, which she manages to sort through. The final edition, from only a week ago(!) mentions that the newspaper is closing due to "unforeseen financial circumstances." However, the rest of the text of the article is heavily coded to indicate exactly what those circumstances really were were. Checking the other articles in previous papers only confirms the suspicion that the paper was heavily critical of the TCPD, often complaining of harassment of its journalists by them. On the other topics, it looks like the Lawn Care shop closed when the owner became victim #10 of the C.L.K, and it looks like the Antiques shop owner suddenly sold it, moved across town, and bought a nightclub late last year, before the C.L.K. became active. There is no mention of a big blonde bearded bald guy, aside from the local weightlifting champion... who was killed two years ago in a hit-and-run.

Scott heads over to the police fortress and investigates. [?] There's Czech Hedgehogs surrounding the parking lot, a tank in it, and some patrol cars. Four buildings, and the place is surrounded with barbed wire. It's unclear exactly what they're expecting that they're so fortified. Maybe it's just a show of force.

Five returns to the group that's been talking.

...Yeah. The paper was critical of the police and got shut down. And there's no mention of anyone looking like the description of the blond bearded guy we were told about. Could be a disguise, or the guy was lying to us.

So what should we be looking for, exactly? Blond beardy guy, or just anyone that looks like they're disguisable?

...I don't know. But I am still suspicious that everything on that side of the Catkin is closed and probably not by free choice, and this block is where the murders have been happening. Some land development scheme the PD is in on, maybe being bribed to not do their jobs? That could implicate both the construction business, which might want to do development here, and the PD.

...Or I could be getting ahead of myself.

Seko arrives back from wherever she went.

Well, it's getting late. If there are no objections, I'll get the body to the morgue with the others and take down the tape. Even if there are objections, actually.

IT IS NOW EVENING. Some people have changed locations, and some new people are in old places. Night phase starts at 2000 pacific time (roughly ten hours from now.)

Seko bags up the body and shoves it in the back seat of a police car, cuts down the crime scene tape, and drives off.

Romero arrives in the catkin, and ducks into the bar when he sees all the "consultants" gathered. [3] But he's not stealthy enough in his reflective vest to avoid your detection.

Romero tries to avoid the consultants in the bar again... [1]: He knocks over his drink and falls flat on his face while trying to duck into a corner unnoticed.

Oh god, oh god, what do you want with me now? Lemme drink in peace, please! Haven't I answered enough questions?

...Fischer is right. Is there a particular reason you didn't want us to see you?

Because you come to my work, you bother me during my break. Okay, fine. But then it happens again, and it's about the clothes the person I saw wore. And now, there's a whole goddamn army of you outside a bar that you know I go to, and well, forgive me if that looks a lot like you're going to grab me, load me into a van, and make sure I'm never heard from again.

He slips in his attempt to rush out of the bar, before scrambling out and into the streets. The bartender glares at Dr. Fischer.

Out. You don't threaten my regulars. You're banned from the bar.

Meanwhile, Seven tries to find out if anyone who is alive still is involved in the incidents. [1]: Well, in a sense, couldn't you say EVERYONE is involved in the incidents in some way? After all, everyone breathes the same air.

...Chill, Fischer! Look, Romero, we're just trying to find this killer. We're consultants, not regular police, ok? ...Look, I noticed that police tank coming over to the construction site after we left. Wasn't that bald police guy you said drove the tank trying to get you to be quiet, was it?

Runner Five uses her ADVANCED RUNNING SKILLS to catch up to Romero as he flees [8] and tries to persuade him to talk. [?]

Look look I don't know nothing about Officer Johnson, he comes every day in the tank claiming we're hiding bodies for crime on the site, threatening us with it, but I haven't heard nothing about that body dump thing. Now I'd like to get out before your "friend" here guts me!

Get a soda at the bar. [10]: Snap makes a terrible mistake. Somehow, he bluffs his way into the bar without getting carded and thrown out, but he orders a soda and drinks it. Sodas are mostly water. He suffers some terrible injuries as a result. He's not about to die from them, but nonetheless, they are bad injuries.

Meanwhile, Terezi tries to get Romero to talk more. [?]
