Inspecting the Device and Knife Particularly:
The device is a car battery, or rather, a capacitor that looks like it was supposed to be a car battery, some jumper cables hooking the knife to the battery, and the knife itself, chipped from cutting through bone, and the tip broken, presumably from stabbing through Holly's skull. The blood is seared on, and the "battery" is discharged. Checking the handle reveals no fingerprints, but a thick layer of that currentcorn syrup sludge with grime stuck to it. The lack of fingerprints is notable, because surely the oily syrup would have made them very obvious, if they were there.

I am the They who says it!
