Zee's attention near-immediately shifts from their pancakes to the announcement and its subject.
飞禽走兽Fēi Qín Zǒu Shòu // Flying Creatures, Walking Beasts
1) Zee spot the large rodent lazily floating about in the river.
“What in all the Six Directions is that creature?”
They press their claws against their temples.
“
They cut themselves off, a lightbulb switching on in their head. Though knowing Zee, it's probably not a lightbulb, but one of those paper lanterns they put up for Chinese New Year celebrations. Anyways, that's besides the point. They are seen darting around a patch of trees by the riverbank and exiting with a bundle of branches of various sizes. With some moth silk, this is turned into a long, butterfly-net-cum-lacrosse-stick-esque contraption, which they use to scoop the capybara out of the water.
2) Something in the back of Zee's mind, almost like a little voice, tells them to find supplies at the general store.
The owner finds Zee looking at them from across the counter, shopping basket in hand. Zee push the basket onto the counter, and a furry snout pops out. Inside are the capybara and her babies, nestled in what appears to be an old towel.
“We'd like to buy the basket,” Zee say, “And no, nothing else.”
As for food, Zee figure they'd just pick some grass for the creatures.
After watching them for a moment, however, they begin to think salad wouldn't be a bad idea.
3) Zee know exactly what to do.
Spread the word! Putting notices up on their door for shop clients is a daily routine for them, so they have no problem writing up a bunch of posters and pasting them around town. Once they're done, they sit down in the check-in area of the camp, set the basket of capybaras down next to them, and try not to worry about how they might have developed carpal tunnel syndrome from writing so much.
