The battle between Gene and the Ranger wages on as Gene shouts his chants, getting louder with each one he does. The Ranger stumbles back, groaning and weakening as Gene doesn't let up. The Ranger lets out a scream that echoes around the camp. Loud enough to split eardrums. The Ranger collapses and convulses before he/she stops moving. Gene observes the Ranger's body, still motionless. He approaches the Ranger and bends down to him.
Sir, can you hear me?
The Ranger stays still for a moment before he moves his head towards Gene. He opens his eyes, looking like a normal human.
I... I'm weak... Is... is she gone?
I... I think I did it. I never exorcised someone before... but I did it. And I couldn't have done it without you all, he addresses the survivors. He turns his attention back to the Ranger. Do you think you can move the rest of your body?
I'll try. The Ranger takes his time, but he gets up. You can tell he's a bit weak, but he's able to move around. It's a miracle. But I think you actually did it. I've been stuck in this camp for the past year. Not able to see my family. Not even my newborn baby. They all must be worried sick about me. I... I just want to see them again.
Don't worry. We'll make sure you'll get back home, right, everyone?
You all nod along with him. Are you finally free? Free from the Witch's presence? No longer forced to being a prisoner here for a vengeful spirit's sick amusement? No longer forced to kill everyone?
I'm sorry you all had to be put through this. My condolences are truly for everyone I've witnessed die here this past year. This includes the ones who were with your group. I'll be sure I'll do something big here. In memory of those we've lost here.
We can worry about that later. Let's just get everyone home first.
Right.
Gene leads the way alongside the Ranger as you all follow them. Just as you all get to the edge to leave the camp, the Ranger snatches Gene in a wristlock. Hey! What the... Fool. You really thought you can rid of me this easily? I have stated I have grown stronger since our last meeting.
The Ranger grabs Gene's head and locks around it like a claw before forcing his head into the barriers, which you all notice are still around. Gene screams as the flesh on his face burns off, the smell of it protruding your noses. Your little chants have never killed me. You might have freed the souls from Blackmoon Forest, but I have just got started again. I have a new plan to gather more souls here. And you shall not interfere anymore. No! Don't kill him! You foolish Ranger! Did you really think this mere human would free you from my bondage? You are just as delusional as he is! You... won't get away with this forever. You have a special place in Hell for what you've done, Gene says weakly. You are actually correct about that, mortal. But not in the way you intend. And speaking of souls, now you can join them. Say goodbye to these fools, mortal. No!
The Ranger, still grasping Gene's head, squeezes into him until his skull crumples like an aluminum can as blood and brain matter dribble down the Ranger's arms. A moment later, Gene's soul drops out of his human body as the dark souls rise up and whisk him away into the unknown, where he too would be tortured just like the others who have died here. The Ranger winds back his/her arm before tossing Gene's corpse to the river, where the Hell Sharks leap out of the water and snatch the body with their jaws before going back to the water. Everyone just sees the water turn red.
And as for you all, you shall remain in my camp. One more possessed among you all. One who will kill off the rest of you. Your souls shall be mine forever. As for the night, the Ting-Lu creature has proven to be most effective. It shall gain my protection for the night.
The red souls come out and revolve around Ting-Lu, to give it nightly immunity among the possessed.
Now the night shall fall soon. Prepare yourselves. Your end is dawning close, The Witch says before giving off a laugh that makes your hearts sink.

I like bananas. They're yellow.
