Chances are the elevators need clearance to get to the higher levels. We'd need keycards. Whereas on the stairs, the biggest impediment is likely to be a security guard blocking the upper floors, who we can just cast down the stairs if needed. Unless Mission wishes to be flashy, and have high-tech security but nothing low-tech up there, in which case we can likely just punch through and escape through the roof.
