It would suck to lose an innocent to take down a guilty party if they're on different sides... 'Though if both are good then... yeah, if there's a way to prove that it'd be wise to protect them since we don't want to lose two innocents at once. But it might've been a dangerous thing to mention unless there is some merit to the 'maybe the bus driver switched us' thing it had mentioned."
