Sounds like your "nature" doesn't even like the barest hint of deviation. Maybe you should come to the side of better-nature. Better-nature makes pretty much everything in it live longer and happier. Also it tries to kill you less. I'm not seeing a downside here. After all, you've been around a while. You've seen that civilization didn't end when your "greeks" got invaded, you saw that they stayed there. They never even left. Their empire fell, but a new empire showed up, and then another, and another, and to this day, they're still there. As far as you know, better-nature is a new constant.
