Lindsey makes an exasperated noise.
So if we've overthought this, then who's the killer, Lucky? It doesn't matter how the situation's thought about, there's a lot of options for where that train of thought leadsĀ and I intend to make fairly safe choices here.
If you assume every bit of evidence is a lie, that leaves us nowhere. If you assume some of it is a lie, that leaves us wherever you assume that the evidence stops being a lie, which is literally anywhere. If you assume none of it is a lie, then apparently everyone did it.
So what point are you proposing we declare all evidence after a lie? Who's your suspect? Or are you just trying to play devil's advocate with no actual suspect? Because if you're doing that, that's not actually helpful. This isn't a question of fear, it's a question of "which is most advantageous for us." The most advantageous option is to not execute, unless you have good reasoning. I'll lay it out for you.
Lindsey holds up one finger.
Option one. We execute and hit the killer. Woo, we win. Wow. Cool.
Lindsey holds up a second finger.
Option two. We execute and hit someone other than the killer. The killer gets all of Rambo's money and a free kill. That sucks.
Then a third.
Option three. We do not execute. The killer gets no extra money.
Lindsey puts their hand down.
So, you have to decide, when does the value of the chance of instant victory outweigh the chance of dumping money on the killer and giving them a free kill?
