POKÉMON 2.B.A. MURDERER ~ Sign-Up/OOC Thread
#1
LOCATION: ???, Unova region

“‘Ey you!”

[That's the first thing you hear when you wake up: a shrill, fast, strongly-accented voice.] “Glad t’ see you're all awake ‘n’ alive ‘n’ all that jazz.”

[Looking around, you find yourself with several others in a dense, thick forest you don't recognize. You can't remember how you got here; as a matter of fact, you can't seem to remember much of anything, aside from your name and your four moves. As you struggle to get ahold of your bearings, you notice that the source of the voice is a diminutive Hoopa Confined, glimmering in the sparse light filtering through the treetops.]

Ringtoss
[Image: image0.jpg]

“Name's Ringtoss! Or if you wanna make it fancy, you can call me somethin’ like... uh... ‘Hyperspace Commander Ringtoss’?” [The Hoopa laughs and clasps its hands together.] “Nah, jus’ Ringtoss works fine. Welcome to a li'l somethin’ I threw together t’ get rid'a my ever-approachin’ boredom. You're all here for a reason—I trust ya know it already since you signed up for this, but in case ya forgot, I'll tell ya real quick.”

“I got a li'l game for ya t’ play. Ever heard'a games like Traitor in the House on the Hill ‘n’ One Night Ultimate Werewolf? My game's kinda like that. You're gonna be here for a few days ‘n’ nights, and I've put hyperspace portals ‘round the barrier so ya can't escape. I've assigned each'a you a role, ‘n’ some'a them can do different things durin’ the day o’ the night. But, o’ course, every good scumhuntin’ game needs some scum. So a few'a you are killers. Ya know each other, work together, ‘n’ get to kill a Pokémon that's not on ya side every night.”

“Good guys: Your goal's to figure out who's killin’ you ‘n’ get rid'a them all. Bad guys: Your goal's to lay low ‘n’ shift the numbers advantage ‘round into ya favor. Simple, right? Been done countless times before, s'tried ‘n’ true!”

“OH! And, and, AAAND ya got an audience!” [Ringtoss happily waves at something that it appears only it can see.] “A couple'a Trainers are recordin’ this. Shout-out to Red Ridin’ Hood in particular for bein’ on board wit’ my li'l social experiment and broadcastin’ it to TEN MILLION'a ya lovely folks! Sure ya fans will love it.”

“One last thing. Above all else, this is just a game. Sure, a couple'a lives may be lost ‘long the way, but people eat that crap up on TV. And besides...” [A wicked smirk spreads across the Hoopa's face as its voice deepens.]

“There's nothing inherently wrong with a game of mafia.”

Welcome to Pokémon 2.B.A. Murderer! This murdergame functions fairly similarly to the other game I'm known for hosting, .EXE ~ A Virus Containment Game, with the obvious exception being there's no “innocents turn into killers” mechanic.
  • The forest is divided into nine sections: Northwestern, Northern, Northeastern, Western, Central, Eastern, Southwestern, Southern, and Southeastern. Everyone begins in the Central section and can freely move between different sections of the forest as they wish.
  • At the beginning of the game, anywhere between 1-4 people are chosen to be the murderers. At night, they will choose one (1) person to kill by PMing me. (The killers will get a Discord group chat, and they can only kill 1 person per night.) What happens next will be decided by a roll of the dice:
    • If the killer rolls higher than or equal to the person they're attempting to kill, the victim will die.
    • If the killer rolls lower than the intended victim, the murder attempt fails.
  • During the day, the Pokémon will investigate the area and discuss who could be a killer. Like .EXE, this game will have a “roll to dodge” mechanic—thanks to Ringtoss's hyperspace tomfoolery, whether you find evidence or not will be determined by a roll of the dice, as seen here:
  1. Epic Fail - the action was not performed, and backfired horribly
  2. Fail - nothing happened
  3. Partial Success - the exact degree of success is established by the GM
  4. Success - the action was carried out adequately
  5. Epic Success - the action succeeded in the most positive way possible
  6. Overshot - though the result was achieved, the action backfired horribly due to disproportionately large effort
  • At any point during the day phase (barring Day 1 for obvious reasons), you may choose to vote for someone to be executed. Whoever gets the most votes will be removed from the game, and their role will be revealed.
  • The killers win if the number of survivors are equal or greater than the number of innocents. The innocents win by voting off all killers.

ROLES
Roles are mostly the same as in .EXE because I'm lazy.

Innocent
  • Investigator: +1 to rolls involving seeking evidence or looking for people/corpses. (6's become 5's.)
  • Orator: +1 vote during the voting phase.
  • Medic: May choose to protect someone from death during the Night Phase, including yourself; if you accidentally protect a killer, however, they redirect their aggression towards you and you risk death. If the Sharpshooter shoots whoever you're trying to protect, you die as well.
  • Soulmates: Two players get this role. Whatever happens to one Soulmate happens to both; if one Soulmate dies, gets executed, gets healed, etc., so does the other.
  • Patron: No special abilities.
Killers
  • Disguise Master: Twice per game, may freely use any non-killer's ability. Otherwise, is a normal Hunter.
  • Ninja: Once and only once per game, may kill someone without leaving any evidence, not even a body. This kill will not be affected by a roll of the dice and cannot be dodged.
  • Distorter: Three times per game, may alter any piece of evidence to frame an innocent. This can be done in virtually any way you can think of.
  • Hunter: No special abilities, aside from killing people.
Ambiguous (could be on either side)
  • Sharpshooter: May kill a player of your choosing at night once per game; this kill cannot be prevented by the Medic's protection or the Paranoid's survival techniques, and will not be affected by a roll of the dice. If you are an innocent and you shoot another innocent, however, you will commit suicide instead.
  • Hypnotist: May non-lethally hypnotize one player per night, making them unable to use their ability. If you are among the killers, you are unable to kill unless you're the only killer left.
  • Paranoid: Twice per game, may prevent all other players from using their nighttime abilities on you except the Sharpshooter and Ninja.

RULES
  1. General murdergame rules still apply.
  2. Stylize your votes like "/vote ThisPerson", or "/vote skip" if you choose to abstain. Votes can be freely changed until the end of the day phase or until a majority is reached.
  3. No cheating. If you are caught cheating, you will be removed from the current round and banned from the next one.
  4. Editing posts is strongly discouraged, as it can be used to hide important information. You can just as easily make a second post correcting anything that was wrong in the first one.
  5. Directly quoting anything I PM you, in or out of this thread, without my permission will fall under the "cheating" rule. The first offense will result in a warning, the second removal/replacement and a ban. Creating false PMs is even worse, and will get you banned without a warning.
  6. Try not to stall. If nobody is killed or lynched over the duration of 2 days and 2 nights total, I will give the victory to whichever side caused a death last (innocents if the last death was a lynching, killers if the last death was a murder).
  7. Killers can be as simple or as verbose in their decision to kill someone as they want. You can just tell me "I'll kill X in the southeastern section of the forest", or you can write me a paragraph describing the crime in excruciating detail, or anywhere in between.
  8. Aside from deadlines, day phases end approximately an hour after a majority vote is reached, and night phases end when all roles with nighttime abilities use them.
  9. Duo characters are allowed. Trios and above, however, are not.
  10. Legendary Pokémon, Mythical Pokémon, and Ultra Beasts are allowed. However, they cannot have their signature moves, nor can they access alternate forms (such as Black/White Kyurem, Primal Groudon/Kyogre, or Silvally's various Memory types).
