"I Fought the Law" was covered by the Dead Kennedys, who altered the lyrics to be from the perspective of Dan White. The Kennedy's version, where the chorus goes "I fought the law and I won!", was an attack on the blatant miscarriage of justice that allowed White to escape a murder conviction.
