Yo how is this description for an idea for one of my webcomics:
RUNTS: runts are formed when a spore fails to completely develop. They are much smaller in size and weaker than their fellow spawns, hence the name. However, runts are still slightly stronger than the average human, but are also much easier for a human to kill than a typical spawn. That is, if they don't come in hoards. Runts are usually assigned menial tasks and are seen as disposable units.
