Brief scene with Eco and Jake that I think might be somewhat cool. Wonder if it helps subtly convey that Eco is trans.

Jake stammers. They are almost at the top of the rampway. Jake puts the crystal back on the wall.

JAKE
Could we pause for a moment? Perhaps we might do a favor for a favor or something along those lines. Say, if I transcribe this letter for you, you tell me about those things or something al--

ECO
(furious)
Stop with it!

JAKE
No. Honestly, I just need to know. You can just tell me and I won't bother you with it again.

Eco stops just before the sun shines in. Takes a deep sigh. Stands over Jake, encased in shadow.

ECO
(shrinks)
You see her wing? They small.

Eco gets the fabric out of his bag.

JAKE
...Just like yours.

ECO
But they girl. I boy. But I, I not look like one.

Eco unfolds the two fabric pieces. Giant; Jake covers his mouth. 

JAKE
Oh!

Jake steps forward, into the light.

Eco has his wings on, folded them back.

JAKE
You... wow! You look... majestic! I, just like your father!

Eco smiles, then frowns in realization. Yanks off his wings, stuffs them back in his bag.

ECO
I not my mate.
