Okay, just did some research on gender dysphoria and although it's definitely distressing and deviant (in the psychological sense, not the moral sense), I'm not really sure whether it's disabilitating or dangerous. In addition, there seems to be a fair bit of controversy about the classification of the condition itself - the diagnostic label "gender identity disorder" (GID) was used until 2013 with the release of the DSM-5, and renamed to remove the stigma associated with the term "disorder", according to Wikipedia. Seems most of the controversy is about whether or not gender dysphoria is equivalent to being transgender, and thus whether the classification of gender dysphoria as an illness should be changed.
