She snaps her fingers when you get back to the main sound stage and a huge space scene is rolled in.

CHALLENGE FIVE

A star sometimes does more than just acting. We'll give you some scenes without sound - as soundless as a realistic scene in the vacuum of space - and you tell us what music should be added.

- The heroes are coming upon an entirely unknown planet. It's tense. They finally meet the natives.

- A crucial space battle! The rebels are winning. But here come reinforcements for the evil empire!

- The hero is untethered, alone in space. They're not sure they'll ever get back to safety. But their partner is still out there. Hopefully. If the same thing didn't happen to them.

Badgerclops groans after getting up from the shock of the shock. He's clutching his robo-arm in sadness, since it's on the fritz now.

I ju–buh—gah— WHY DOES THIS PLACE HAVE SUCH BAD ELECTRICAL PORTS!?

He sits down in a nearby folding chair, resting his peeved head and chin on his hands.

So, what, you want us to set the mood? How's this!? Badgerclops waves the paper speakerphone form of his robo-arm before getting it knocked into hi sface a few times.

Badgerclops doesn't know how to compose!

- The heroes are coming upon an entirely unknown planet. It's tense. They finally meet the natives.
OK, so, first we wanna set the mood. Look at the planet from a distance. It's big, green, lush, definitely not populated with native aliens. The music's gotta be cool to match, like.... uh... a kazoo? Have a kazoo concerto to... represent the wildlife! Yeah. Suspiciously bug-like. Then they land and the kazoos keep going, but then they meet the natives for real. No idea what they are, so just... have the rest of the instruments cut away.
- A crucial space battle! The rebels are winning. But here come reinforcements for the evil empire!
Uh, isn't just from that one movie? Play some epic trumpets or something. Maybe some metal!
- The hero is untethered, alone in space. They're not sure they'll ever get back to safety. But their partner is still out there. Hopefully. If the same thing didn't happen to them.
Ooh, there's this cool instrument called a theremin. Have it play a haunting refrain. Alone....!

Geez, don't people know the easiest way to eliminate someone is to make them stop breathing!? Burning them alive is just so painful and risky and... sniff why would you do that???

Anybody seen Perch recently? No? Lotta whistled and twiddled her thumbs. You might think you can smell fried fish baking.

After a beat, he realizes something, and adjusts his antennae. He then speaks again.

"Hello! My name's Telly! I heard someone here's into animation? Do you guys like... Japanese animation?

"I've... heard of it," Adrien says in a blatantly-forced neutral tone.

... he might have become a bit of a closet weeb after Nino introduced him to Dragon Ball. His father would never approve, but what Gabriel doesn't know won't hurt him.

"I haven't watched much but my sister Louise does. At least I think Kuchi Kopi is from Japan."

Lotta grins - whether genuinely or with malice or both is unclear. She hands Telly a print-out with the current challenge.

"Oh, absolutely!" Meito tells the TV. "I love anime so much I manage a store for it, haha!"

Japanese animation, home to some of the most freakiest, most disturbing works of fiction you'll ever come across.... I love it!, Mincer says nibbling on a piece of fried meat. Smells like fish.

Tina Scores a Space Epic

"I'm going to go with classical music, they use it a lot in cartoons I've watched. And other movies."

"How about that music from the start of that one old space movie my dad made us watch once? It'd be good for that."

- A crucial space battle! The rebels are winning. But here come reinforcements for the evil empire!

"I'm pretty sure this one works for a battle. It's exciting enough anyway. I think I've heard it in battle scenes in stuff. Too bad there aren't any space zombies, that would make it even more exciting."

- The hero is untethered, alone in space. They're not sure they'll ever get back to safety. But their partner is still out there. Hopefully. If the same thing didn't happen to them.

"Oh no. This needs something emotional. Like that really sad music that was in some movie my dad watched. It made him cry. Don't tell him I said that and sorry if you're watching Dad."

- The heroes are coming upon an entirely unknown planet. It's tense. They finally meet the natives.
"How about something mysterious, quiet but tense, like you have no idea what's in store for you and you could expect something to jump out at you at any second... then, the heroes meet one of the inhabitants. Turns out, the aliens are friendly and the music gets more cheerful and upbeat! Who wouldn't wanna hang out with some cool friendly aliens?"
- A crucial space battle! The rebels are winning. But here come reinforcements for the evil empire!
"Ooh, let's get an epic rock track going! Maybe throw in a bunch of laser beam sounds and stuff! While it sounds triumphant at first, it slowly changes to be more dramatic as the bad guys get the advantage..."
- The hero is untethered, alone in space. They're not sure they'll ever get back to safety. But their partner is still out there. Hopefully. If the same thing didn't happen to them.
"Hm... let's make this a slow, somber tune as they're floating away to who knows where. And to change things up... make it into a song halfways through! Lyrics about how the hero wonders if it was all for nothing and if it was really worth it... but still with hope about getting back to the others and their partner. Yeah..." Meito says as he wipes away a tear.

"A tense music could work. Perhaps a tune that indicates how 'unfamiliar' the place is. Then an epic tune when they finally meet the natives."

- A crucial space battle! The rebels are winning. But here come reinforcements for the evil empire!

"How about an epic music for the battles? Maybe with lyrics about the power of hope, and how it wins out in the face of danger!"

- The hero is untethered, alone in space. They're not sure they'll ever get back to safety. But their partner is still out there. Hopefully. If the same thing didn't happen to them.

"A sad, lonely, melancholic music could work. Perhaps with violins. And maybe add a hopeful tone as well."

Something... yeah idk how to describe this one it just kinda feels like it fits.

Mincer and I have sat down and thought about this. Now, Adrien, we do appreciate the extra effort to really find tracks. And they do go quite well! You should be proud.

However, this time we have to give the award to Badgerclops. Very creative! The explanations... and I do love the use of the theremin. And a kazoo. But mostly the theremin. Congratulations!

Lotta actually looks chagrined for once. I... I really should have seen those, shouldn't I? Classical music is very traditional for cartoons. And the one from 2001: A Space Odyssey... Yeah, that was a really good effort, Tina.

In any case... if none of you kill tonight. Apart from selecting one of you at random again, Mincer and I will commission a really awful budget, knock-off version of your show. You're not going to like it.

Oh, I love parodies! I don't really think a bad version would be that bad of an idea! But... I don't think it's worth anyone dying, either. Maybe make it the challenge for next time, instead!
