And even that's perfunctory at best. Mental health issues should be dealt with through consulting a trained professional, not through self-deprecatory/self-loathing humor or through depending on online friends who are unable to help you in any practical way.

Well, you don't just see a therapist for an hour and never see them again. Therapy usually takes a very long time to resolve someone's issues. It isn't easy, and it isn't a quick fix.

Calling a helpline if it's really serious is also a good idea. Random internet people, whether friends or acquaintances or whatever... are really really not qualified. Venting is fine and all well and good in the thread for it but if it's super serious self-hatred... yeah. (And if it's not, the jokes are... prooooooobably not in good taste anyway? Unless it's super-mild stuff like calling yourself boring or something I guess)

Your conclusion does not follow from your premises. A single serial killer working on a suicide hotline does not taint the entire service.

Yes, it's obviously suboptimal, because it's a hotline.

And admittedly, we have no experience with them, so we can't say whether the people there tend to be sincere or not.

What's the Warning Level, by the way?

Mods can issue warnings which come with warning points. Depending on the warning, they expire after a certain amount of time. That percentage is how many you have out of... the arbitrary number we pick to be 100%.

There's a whole system we can set up with automatic punishments for accumulating points, which we've largely not bothered with. Like, there've been five actual mod actions since TC began and literally nobody has ever had more than one warning on record at a time. It's really meant for larger boards.
