wario was abandoned at birth and he was sent out on a raft with a pile of treasure as a baby, as seen in yoshi's island ds. the treasure was all he knew. the treasure WAS his family. that's why he's so greedy. he uses money to fill the void of not having a mother. similarly, his relationship with Waluigi may stem from a mixture of this and his jealousy of Mario; he wants to be like Mario, he wants to have a family like Mario. i just came up with this theory and it's my headcanon and i suddenly want to give wario a hug
