I still think it's rude to call that overboard. I'm otherkin, I would definitely rather be my fursona, and would own multiple suits and go to cons regularly if funds allowed. Doesn't sound very extreme to me.

If you ask me, a "one of those furries" is a furry who is publicly disgusting and degenerate, but listing that as tier would probably be seen as complaining

there's surprisingly a lot of otherkin hate in the furry fandom. They seem to think we're giving them a bad rap for believing/wanting to be animals. You'd think the two communities would get along but nah

yeah they refer to them in a very derogatory manner like "we don't believe we're animals, that's otherkin, they're really weird and take it so seriously"
For the record, my furry and kin identities are separate (which is to say, my fursona animal and kin animal are not the same, because furry is fantastical/escapism and kin is not)

Most people don't really like to call themselves furrys myself included, cus some people think it means doing gross stuff to animals.

Good morning.

I think that Otherkin are generally viewed (by those in the furry community anyway) as weirdos, but harmless weirdos. The problem is that anyone less familiar with them will see Otherkin as outright insane, and that drives "normal" furries to make the distinction really clear for those not in the know so that they don't get lumped in with the crazies.

Though I don't doubt that some furries genuinely think that Otherkin are crazy and reflect badly upon them.
