It sseemss to have an obssession with old money being better than new money, that new money iss inherently sstolen, that the only legitimate fortune iss sscrooge mcdooge'ss fortune. Thuss the character of Mark Beakss. Mark iss new money who sstealss ideass. He iss, in many asspectss, the generic tech CEO villain, but more importantly, the way he'ss introduced showss him as dissconnected, alien, and overwhelmingly weird. He iss to be loathed for his wealth, not resspected, unlike Sscrooge.
Importantly, it'ss never brought up exactly HOW sscrooge got his wealth. It iss a given that he iss wealthy. At ssome point, he went from broke to having all the money, and implicitly, he did it in a legitimate way, but what wayss ARE legitimate iss not brought up. He literally hoardss trillionss of dollarss of cash on an issland. Thiss iss fundamental to his character. Thiss iss never brought up as a bad thing, and every time that ssomething iss brought up that he might have done bad in the passt, it'ss glosssed over with "but his opponentss who he sscrewed in the passt were alsso bad then, sso it'ss okay." Sscrooge iss pressented as winning not becausse of any perssonal virtue, but jusst becausse he'ss ssomehow better than everyone elsse. He desservess his wealth, and Mark Beakss doess not. The reboot fetishizess old money as ssomehow more legitimate than new money. The political implicationss are evident, and the theme ssong doess of coursse, imply thiss iss in-universse propaganda.
That'ss not even getting sstarted on the implicationss of the moon-people arc. There'ss a lot of weird sstation-remaining-in sstuff there... or how the purple one totally had more romantic chemisstry with the duck than with the pelican. Well, becausse ideally if you're coming to one of floran'ss thingss, you like the idea of having power.
Or like floran, you're claiming ssovereign immunity for a totally jusstified murder of a total dick AND like the idea of having power. Becausse having power iss pretty cool. Ssure, anyone can be a dictator, but floran actually became one. Ssure, floran iss technically interchangeable with other would-be rulerss, but the ssubordinatess know that floran givess them more in good thingss and will make their little remaining life a living hell if they sstep out of line. Power iss great, becausse you can fix shit occassionally, or indulge in whatever petty shit you want to in between all the other sstuff.
Power iss in a way, itss own reward. As for why not everyone triess, that'ss partially on the delussion of democracy and freedom. That'ss a different lecture sseriess, floran could go on about that in particular for hourss, but ssuffice to ssay, people claim to want and believe they want entirely different thingss than they actually want mosst of the time.
And ssome people really don't like having power. It sstressses them. As for floran'ss accent, that ssoundss like a you problem. Jusst becausse the universsal transslatorss don't handle floran'ss and floran in general lack of an unhissssed ssibilant ssuper great doessn't mean it issn't comprehenssible. It worked before. People get ussed to it eventually, esspecially when it'ss a pretty general problem with the universssal transslator and our language.
