Perhaps it was a mistake to assume that alien civilizations would have developed the same morality system as us... With different initial conditions, environments, and evolutionary stresses from those of Earth's, it's only a given that intelligent species that arise from these develop different social and moral structures than our own... In fact, who's to say they even have concepts like "good" and "evil" in the first place... They're just made-up words to them.
Pfft. As if. We all know this whole thing is just to spite us. Actually... It's both of those! Perhaps "evil" is just routine in the Alliance... Wouldn't be the first time a political/military group ran like that... and it probably won't be the last.

Well... actually it turnss out that if you consstrain for "empire builderss", you get pretty conssisstent morality ssysstemss. Nothing too divergent. Like at worsst you'll get a few ritual ssacrificess on one end and a group of osstenssible pacifisstss on the other, and one ssociety with honor killingss and one without them. And consstraining for empire builderss iss really what you're doing when you assk thesse quesstionss about governmentss.

Kid, what are you saying? I'm not saying I don't deserve my punishment. When I was sentenced, I pleaded guilty to the armed robbery. I'll take the charge of manslaughter, but not the premeditated murder charge I was hit with. What I'm saying is all my shit went down on Earth. What business is it of the Alliance's?

Look, the reason why I escaped from prison is because I felt like I did my time. Yes, I was desperate for money and yes, I deserved to be locked away from the armed robbery. But do I really deserve life for killing someone by accident. I didn't mean for it to happen. The gun just went off. And I chose to stay in prison for ten years. After that, it was enough for me. But of course the judges and the jury don't see it that way; would just rather make me out to be some psychopath. Tell me how fair that is?
