Leroy and Loretta, back again, somehow look even more dead-eyed than before, with their negotiated contracts, and a representative from King Features with them as their contract stipulates.

"That's showbusiness" says Leroy, apparently expecting this to elicit laughter, or at least a pained groan from everyone else despite it being, as far as can be seen, not much of a joke.

At least you didn't opt for the Keane Kompound Kids. They're even less funny than Leroy.

You killed, but you're exiting almost immediately after the way you came in? You remind me of Loretta's cooking.

The financial state of the studio may be in jeopardy if these are the stars they've chosen. Or perhaps not.

I'd like to begin with making a movie about how marriage is like an inescapable prison.

It should be in black and white like the weekday comic strips. And in french.

The King Features representative butts in to stop this idea.

They're going to make a highly merchandisable series. Leroy, you'll do a tiktokable dance that looks like you're going to dislocate a joint. Loretta, you'll... also do something like that. It'll be set in the 1990s for nostalgia points with the streaming-subscribing crowd. They're not pop-culture icons like popeye, so we'll go with this as an introduction. It'll be one of those... those... dramady animated shows. Like that one with the horse guy, but better. I'm sure we can fill in the lack of the lack of things they do besides snip at each other. It can't be that hard, you... do have writers, yes? It isn't just you two? Ah, we'll get our own. 22 minute episodes, of course, but we're making this for streaming, so we could go higher or lower by any amount, really.

Then another King Features representative drives in through the gates at breakneck speed, knocking one clear from its hinges.

Well... yes, we do have writers, but we're always looking for more talent. And yes, merchandising, web media, we cover all that! I'm sure we can get it all sorted out. Let's make our way into the writers' room, shall we? I'm sure they'll all be excited to work with you all!

As Mincer heads over there and motions the Lockhorns and the King Features people to follow him, he has a feeling the writers will go through hell dealing with all of them. But he doesn't care. He thrives on their misery.
