Literally the third episode. It was quite a twist, to be sure, but it didn't come out of nowhere.

buffy has a lot of thingcolors, including but not limited to:

red, orange, yellow, emerald green, navy blue, hypothetical periwinkle, regular periwinkle, negative burgundy, pastel purple, dark purple, electric blue, ironic neon pink, and of course a metric shitton of existential turquoise.

I liked Buffy up until around the fourth season, then I sort of lost interest.

so far I have had some lookey-loos, a good sale, a guy who made me open cases and did not buy anything, and 80's music on the radio.

apparently the first five seasons are the best

this is true

there's some good episodes in season 6 but some of it is... not really as great

and season 7 is... meh.

seasons 3 and 5 are my favorites, also I'm not a fan of the Big Bad arc in season 4 but season 4 has my favorite episode of the series so...

My favorite seasons are the first three.

Part of the reason I lost interest around Season Four is because Whedon decided to give one of the characters a same-sex love interest... which wouldn't be bad in and of itself, but that character already had a hetero love interest and apparently Whedon didn't think bisexuals existed, because that character is always referred to as gay (not bisexual) from that point on. And they and their first love interest also had a good relationship that was broken up for stupid reasons, to add insult to injury.

To be honest, I would have greatly preferred it if Whedon had made the "suddenly bi" decision with another character, who didn't at that point have a healthy relationship going on, and who I think would have become a more interesting character had Whedon made that choice with them. That is, of course, if said character was actually acknowledged as bisexual.
