The woman jogs back to the group. Introductions? I'm Runner Five. This is... upsetting, but I guess I can handle it after what I've been used to.
Hmmm... I didn't see any shotguns at that arms dealer's, I don't think. But the stab wound, now...
> Can you tell what kind of knife made the wound

Runner Five: Determine Knife Wound: [?] Well, the body is right there. Apparently the C.M.E. drove out here to look at it, and just left it here for whatever reason. Looking at the wound, and remembering what you read in the report, you can tell that the wound was probably made by something like a... bayonet? Certainly a specialty item these days, and not something you saw on the outdoor tables at the arms dealers place.

Snap >Interrogate the Townsfolk [5]:
Randomly going up to people and yelling at them to divulge information about things turns out to not get you very far. Either they don't know anything or they're not telling you. However, you are at least intimidating enough (somehow) that they don't punch you.
> Enter every open place [1]: Instead of simply asking where you're allowed to go and where you're not allowed to go, you immediately walk into the warehouse of the grocery store on block two during a very busy hour, walk into the manager's office and the break room and everywhere in the back. Ten minutes after that, your picture is taped onto the front desk on a list of "banned customers" and you are escorted out of the store.

Mathra: Investigate every open area BETTER! [2]: You do FAR BETTER! You manage to not get banned from any stores. Of course, you manage that by merely walking around the sidewalks and never actually going in any buildings, HIGHLY ADVANCED INVADER that you are.
Runner Five: Check for antique shop break-ins [6]: It looks like it's been broken into easily hundreds of times, by people with varying levels of technical skill and with a wide variety of equipment. Plasma-torch-cut bars, hammered down walls, smashed windows, pried open grates, grappling hooks through upstairs windows, etcetera. Most of the contents are looted, from what you can see inside.
Runner Five also enters King's Pawnshop, and meets a strange man dressed entirely in a horrifically garish bright green suit and huge floppy feathered hat of the same color.
Welcome to King's Pawnshop, don't steal anything, ma'am, and we'll be fine.
He has a southern accent. It's not clear entirely WHERE in the south, but it is southern. On being asked if he sold anyone a shotgun or bayonet, he gets a bit cagey.
Well now, I don't keep much track of my customers, whether they're buying or selling. They pay a premium for my discretion. But I'll tell you this, Ma'am, I do not sell firearms. You want those, go to the arms dealers north. They do not have my discretion, nor my wide variety of non-perishable goods, so I cannot recommend them, but if it's firearms you're wanting, I only have my personal weaponry for dealing with thieves, and those are not for sale.

Sariel seeks out a shop that might sell a bayonet. Perhaps, if they're lucky, a shop that is still selling bayonets right now.

Lynne snaps out of it, thinking, "Did I really sign up for this? Maybe they're just trying to force us into this...!" She tries to introduce herself, but everyone else has gone off to work. Might as well tag along!
Well, might as well investigate. There's a Jane Doe... no way. Hmm, first place she decides to go is....
> (Nicely) ask around for information on Jane Doe's acquaintances, family, etc. Phrased in the very detailed question of "Did you know Ms. Jane Doe?"

The investigation proceeds apace, with people gravitating towards block 7.
Sariel looks for a shop which would sell a bayonet [4]: It works out poorly, eventually they gravitate towards the arms dealers, but the dealers claim to not sell bayonets, even in their "special stock".
French Terezi joins investigation on block 7 [1]: You walk into a group of street toughs. Most of them recognize that you are probably a bit of a threat and edge away before vanishing into the shadows, but one of them pulls out a knife and threatens her.
Runner Five enters the looted antiques store and investigates. [?]: It doesn't look like there were any firearms sold there, and if there were, they were taken months ago. The place looks like it's been abandoned for over a year. It's a mess.
Lynne asks around about Jane Doe [9]: It works surprisingly well! People mention that Jane Doe frequented the Catkin district, mention seeing her around from time to time. There are a few unsavory rumors about her, it seems she was a petty criminal who worked primarily outside the bar, stealing valuables. No one actually saw what happened to her though, though some mention hearing a gunshot late at night. They figured it was part of the normal Catkin crime.
Mathra looks for security footage [4]: The bar has security footage, but your credentials only invoke suspicion, and they ask for a warrant.

French Terezi: Trick the tough into letting his guard down [9]: The Tough lets his guard down, totally buying that this ostensibly blind person is barely a threat.
French Terezi swings the cane against the tough while his guard is down. [3+2=5]. Tough's reflex is [3]. +2 Terezi.
There's a sickening crack as the cane smashes into the back of the tough's head, tearing his brainstem in a single strike. He collapses to the ground and dies on the pavement. Seko arrives on the scene.
Nice. Self defense, I saw it, you're clear. High-five!
At that point, Runner Five arrives to discover there's no persuasion to be done.
Meanwhile, Snap "investigates with his big-ass magnifying glass(tm)". He does not specify something to investigate, so he just stares at a blob of discarded gum in the parking lot. There's an ant by it. Or there was, until it ignites due to the magnifying glass.
