An enormous explosion rocks the town, a long, rolling rumble that lasts for several seconds. Manhole covers are launched into the sky, jets of fire beneath spew out, scorching the pavement around. Night turns into day for a few brief minutes, before the darkness returns. Car alarms blare in the distance, and sirens scream... and there's a loud grinding noise as the construction site's structure collapses.
