When you approach the stone and start really looking at it, you start having a vision.
You see the stone, illuminated by a spotlight in seemingly endless darkness. It is surrounded by several smaller stones. The smaller stones roll around until they form six piles in a hexagonal pattern around the large stone.
Suddenly, a jagged, menacing looking stone appears across from the carved stone. The jagged stone's shadow spreads like a dark liquid, knocking the carved stone over.
But from the spotlight above the dark stone, six new stones fall. They resemble the carved stone, only smaller. They cast beams of elemental energy onto the dark stone, shattering it.
But the shards of the jagged stone absorb themselves into the carved stone, making it stand up again, this time with an ominous red glow. But an orb of light is shot out, and lands among the sand. Where the orb of light lands emerges another carved stone, only older looking and covered in moss. The two carved stones start firing beams of energy at each other, light from the old looking stone, and darkness from the newer looking stone. Eventually, the older looking stone leaps onto the newer looking one, causing a cloud of dust to appear. When the dust settles, both stones are gone.
But where does that leave the smaller stones? The small carved stones appear next to the piles of stones. While some of the piled stones stay, others shoot upwards into the sky, with some getting the faces of the carved stones engraved on them as well.
That is where your vision ends. You are back where you were, in front of the stone.

You cannot lift the stone, and there doesn't seem to be anything suspicious about it. Perhaps the vision was caused by your own psyche?
