"We have a baseball team now? I can hit, but definitely don't ask me to be a pitcher", PointMaid mumbles, apparently close to falling asleep, curling up with her head on her backpack. She adjusts her Red Sox cap so it's covering her eyes and blocking out any light that might disturb her.

With a goofy grin on her face, Commander Yammark states, "Sorry about that, but can you tell me what's going on here?"
"I'm not sure, but we should probably not stay in this motel."
He goes into the car and takes a pillow out of his bag. He lays down and falls asleep.
As soon as Dookie falls asleep, Commander Yammark keeps a stern watch on the situation for now. The possibility of attack remains high at this dangerous motel, so Yammark summons a pair of dragonfly drones to assist her in reporting anything suspicious.

"Oof. These hurt so much. I'm gonna lie down."
Playing lies down on the nearest bed, and stays there. He moans and groans for a long time.

Outside the gang's hotel rooms, an all-black-clad bum with a typewriter is furiously hammering away at the last few pages of a manuscript he's been working at for quite some time. Something about "Slushee coins" "Manasses," "Totally Not a Deathrap Filled Amusement Park" "Death," "Turrron," boring things like that.
He didn't even bat an eye at the clerk's crow crackdown. He's too busy talking to a stray leech.

For now, Commander Yammark dreams of electric sheep. Her first day was incredibly frightening and confusing. Why do things get so hectic around these fleshbags? Are they cursed by a god or something?

Four in the morning. The fox shivers. Frost on the windows.
She tries to ignite the car—it's dead. Not even jamming her hook in the keyhole causes a spark.
She exits the car, covertly closes it. Sees the clunky car in the parking lot. Tiptoes over, arms crossed defensively. She looks for a keyhole on the trunk. Can't find one.
She jabs her hook in, opens it. There are still some suitcases in there. Somewhat heavy. She barely manages to get enough space for herself and crawls in like a contortionist. Cramps her leg.
She puts some suitcases over herself, sighs. Tries to reach the trunk, can't close it. Jabs her hook through the top, closes it down with a loud THUD.
She was shocked, but she's not afraid anymore.
She's too tired to get out of her position. All she can do now is dream about the peppermint turtles again and hope for the best.

The coldness outside is starting to seep inside due to a faulty-at-best heating system. The bum is starting to find this spot in the hallway a bit too cold to stay in now. He presses his ear against the door.
...nope, his roommates are still arguing. Time for another plan. But what to do?
...oh wait! It's brilliant!
The bum rushes outside to his car, grabs a propane stove, and a tank, smuggles it past the clerk back to his spot in the hallway. He then hooks it all up, and turns on the stove. He's definitely a bit warmer now.

So he laid down, got out his iPad, and watched Mr. beast videos until the rest of the gang woke up.

"You can't use the toilet, there's a rattlesnake in it. Go behind the dumpster or something."

The fox wakes up in the trunk, stirs. She can barely breathe. She feels around herself, gets up.
Hits her head on the roof. A sharp clunk. One of the suitcases falls over, makes another sound.

Upon hearing the noises coming from the trunk, Commander Yammark opens the compartment door and asks in a concerned tone of voice, "Are you okay in there?"

After about three minutes of early morning wake-up-ery go by, the waking members of the gang start to smell (and see) smoke.
Predictably, in the hallway, the bum's "heat self with propane stove plan" has gone the only way it truly could, and caught about a square foot of the hallway on fire. It's small now, but whatever's in this carpet is a very powerful fuel.

"That's good. I'm glad you're okay," sighs Commander Yammark in relief. She cares about her non-human companions a lot, it seems.
"Yeah, but that's why they're so fascinating," replies Commander Yammark. "Their ability to do absurd things intrigues me."
Commander Yammark smells the smoke and asks, "What's that smell?"
