No More Heroes 2 is an amazing example of avoiding sequelitis.
It just took what worked about the first game, trimmed the fat just a bit, and threw a bunch of crazy shit at the wall.

You could turn into a tiger. No lore reasons, no bullshit plot about Travis discovering his dark past or something, just because it's fucking sick to turn into a tiger and decimate your enemies. Oh, and also because Travis' name, Torabisu, means tiger. Or at least "Tora", not so sure about "bisu".

@Risdio Honestly, I have a bit of a soft spot for stuff that throws in whatever crazy shit just because it's cool to do so. Sort of like old comic books from the Silver Age, where you'd have stuff like the Fantastic Four fighting a silver guy on a cosmic surfboard, or the Justice League fighting a giant alien starfish that controls minds.

I love it when games do random shit as well. Like the BFG from Doom. Literally just a byproduct of the way that the original Doom engine and projectiles worked, now having an extremely powerful gun that does crazy nonsense damage but is also extremely rare ammowise is a staple of video games.
