I never really understood DC's and Marvel's impulse to create dark-n'-edgy universes in an attempt to be more "mature". I mean, at least Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy went out of its way in its commitment to "realism" insofar as it eliminated all of the source material's more fantastical elements, but stuff like the DCEU or the Titans show doesn't have that excuse, since they have all of the weird, wacky superhero elements but insist on treating them "realistically" despite that. And the result seems to be more or less the same; the works are derided by critics and audiences alike, who unfavorably compare the material's pretentious "maturity" to much more fun, entertaining works like the MCU, CW's The Flash show, and Shazam!, the only movie in the DCEU that wasn't a total grimdark angst-fest.
Overall, stuff like the SnyderVerse seems to be either an excuse for adults who are secretly embarrassed by their love of superheroes, or a hate-fest by people like Garth Ennis or Warren Ellis, who despise superhero comics but nonetheless keep coming back to the genre, if only to engage in another round of futile masturbatory bitching.
