Browsing on TVT's articles, I found a couple of articles that describe what sort of life might potentially exist (or evolve) on other bodies in the solar system.
Jupiter
Carl Sagan has suggested life could thrive on gas giant planets such as Jupiter. He even thought on the types of "floaters" that could exist and on the ecological niches they could inhabit. These lifeforms might take the form of: "sinkers" (the equivalent of Earth's phytoplankton (read: microscopic algae and the like), who would not have enough buoyancy and would sink from the planet's high atmosphere to its depths where they'd die), "floaters" (able to regulate their buoyancy, thus floating as balloons of the atmosphere and feeding on the formers or being as them autotrophs), "hunters" (self-explanatory, fast, flying predators that feed on "floaters" for sustenance and to replenish their gas supply), and "scavengers" (also self-explanatory, those living in the depths of the planet just above where conditions are too harsh for life to exist and living off what falls from above).
Jupiter's moons
Jupiter's moons Europa, Callisto and Ganymede are also considered a good possibility for life. While the surface is a frozen sheet of ice due to its distance from the Sun, because of the tidal forces exerted on its interior by Jupiter (which in a more extreme example have turned the closer moon of Io into a volcanic moon) these moons are thought to have a massive ocean underneath the ice; and the sheet of ice would protect the ocean from any radiation from Jupiter. If there are any lifeforms, they would probably live very deep down, surviving off geothermal energy. Thus, they would possibly look similar to Earth's own deep sea creatures, which evolves in one of the most extreme environments on Earth, with very little sunlight, nearly no photosynthesis and extremes in pressure and cold. This radical difference from any other environment on Earth creates very alien forms of life that simply cannot exist elsewhere.
Saturn's moons
Saturn's moon Enceladus is considered a possibility for life for all the same reasons as Europa and company. Two things Enceladus has going for it that Europa currently doesn't is that Enceladus's ice sheet is shifting relative to the moon's interior, confirming that the subsurface ocean is global, and measurements taken by having the Cassini satellite travel through one of Enceladus's famous cryo-geysers showed that the water is salty and contains organic compounds. Some astrobiologists speculate that there could also be life on Titan, thanks to its being rich in hydrocarbons, as well as water. If that's true, it's believed that those lifeforms would take the form of microbes similar to bacteria and/or archaea found on Earth... only huge (maybe the size of a sheet of typical printer paper), perhaps to take advantage of limited sunlight for photosynthesis, or simply to out-compete other organisms.
And, if any of these worlds don't in fact harbor native life-forms, then these speculations might give us on Earth a good idea on how to create such ecosystems on other planets; for example, genetically modifying Earth organisms to survive in Titan's seas.
