The calico cat that's been sitting on the roof this whole time stands up and stretchyawns. The cat seems completely immune to any inertial effect of the car's motion and remains firmly where it sits with no regard to any acceleration, braking, or turns.
It spreads its wings, enjoying the feel of the wind for a moment.

Custard leans out the window and squints. Some of the sign's neon letters were burnt out, causing it to read OT L 9, but it was still easy to tell it was supposed to say "Motel 9". Below that was the slogan "Fuck you and fuck your lights, we're not leaving them on"
"Okay, guess we're stopping at OT L 9, then"
