1. How old is the book?
2. If it's modern, and they're supposed to be teaching about the subject but don't understand the modern convention and that doing otherwise is considered rude and insensitive... I'm not sure I have a ton of confidence in the author.

It's from 2019. And it's two authors. And a Christian college is using it.
I mean, the terminology is outdated, but I think the intentions are somewhat decent.

I must say that no matter how opposed I am to the book's language, I am also opposed to book-burning/book-shredding/book-destruction-by-any-means.
Firstly because I am a lover of books, and secondly because I can't think of anybody who ever burned a book and who also would be a pleasant person to be around.

I'd say "listen to your kid if they think they might be trans" is the right level of open-minded
but "assume someone is trans based on their interests/appearance/likes/dislikes when they have never said they are trans" is probably not.
