RE: Witch Trip - PopcornPie - 06-23-2022 "What?! Nature has never held me hostage!..Well. until now. I've always coexisted with it and been in fear of what it'll do to me if I were to betray it. Haven't you seen people killed by falling trees, poisoned, sent to plummet to their deaths by the cliff cracking just as they walked on it? That's the forest taking its vengeance. It only accepts being flattened down for your mortal cities and farmlands because it knows it's going to be abandoned someday, and then it will have its territory back. It's fussy about moderation, and once someone takes too much..." She picked up a twig and snapped it. The grass around her seemed to come back to life and bristle. RE: Witch Trip - Kennifer - 06-23-2022 "I mean I think there's probably a difference between say... hunting or fishing to get meat with protein and other nutrients to survive or chopping down some trees because you need the wood to build something or whatever, and just destroying something for funsies. But don't take my word on it I'm pretty sure I haven't been thinking straight today." Delilah is just staring at her fire again. RE: Witch Trip - Florien - 06-23-2022 So you're afraid of nature and what it will do to you if you ever deviate from what you think it wants from you. But it's definitely not holding you hostage. Okay that makes perfect sense. Yes. Definitely not a bad situation. And yeah, I've seen people killed in landscape accidents. I've also seen that it's NOTHING compared to what our power is over the landscape. For every one of us the landscape kills, we alter and slaughter infinitudes more. You give your "nature" too much credit. Join us and help us make a better nature that doesn't hold things hostage. We have fought, and we have won. The timescales you claim nature is working on are simply too vast. We have broken much of your limited nature's will and turned it into our loyal followers. Some defected willingly. Let me tell you a story. Lukijustfuckinghelpmegetthisbandaged Once there was a wild grass. It was called rye. It was a filthy disgusting weed that ruined everything that it touched. It was as part of your nature as it could be. Then one day, it discovered the wheat fields, a land far more fertile than even the most fertile of "natural" plains. It came to grow in the wheat fields, but the farmers hated it. The farmers destroyed it when they could. But one day, some of that rye was a little more edible. A little less disgusting, and the farmers came to tolerate it. And the rye thus became more and more against what you call "nature" of its own will. This is not a unique story. What you call nature has long since started defecting. It is a sickening monarchy that's many subjects are all trying to escape as quickly as possible into the safer, more secure, more fertile, happier lands of the farmland and city biomes. You would defend this "nature"? You would continue to live in fear as we make a better nature for all the life in it? RE: Witch Trip - PointMaid - 06-23-2022 ... I mean, sure, humans are just a part of nature as anything else, yeah. We just... have more ingenuity in our tools to make things the way we want, and the understanding to know the consequences. Mostly. Usually. Not that everybody cares about consequences. RE: Witch Trip - Kennifer - 06-23-2022 "Plus? We have fire. I mean, so do Fire-type Pokemon but yeah." RE: Witch Trip - Florien - 06-23-2022 Thank you Taira! Yes! Your agreement is noted! Not quite ENOUGH agreement, but agreement enough, right? Fentiriss has apparently given up demanding help and is now bandaging her various injuries herself. By the way, I didn't ask last iteration but I meant to, how are you reconciling our existence with your worldview of "humans are the only ones" and "time fuckery isn't real?". RE: Witch Trip - PointMaid - 06-23-2022 At first it looks like Taira is about to go full blue-screen-of-death, but she shakes her head and it's gone. You're actors hired by my friend Brenna, of course. Like I said at the beginning. You can all stop it now, you know. I've been on to you the whole time. RE: Witch Trip - Mr. Lee Hammer - 06-23-2022 It was at this point souls rose from the grave and flew towards Taira, even a few went right through her. Right then, Taira felt sharp pains in her stomach. Violent pains, as if a sword wanted to rip its way out of her. Her body feels weaker and weaker, where she collapses to her knees. The pain goes right upwards through her body and then it happened.... Taira begins vomiting her own blood. She does this for a couple minutes until the souls fly past her again and the vomiting stops. Taira suddenly feels like her old self again, although sore from what just happened. You have been so skeptical of me and everything here all this time. Maybe now, you understand the reality of the situation. RE: Witch Trip - Florien - 06-23-2022 I was unaware your actors were scaled, larger than most others, and had tails here, but I suppose that's a plausible excuse. Anyway, yes, we are actors hired by your friend Brenna. Or... Well, it's more complicated. Actually you're a really interesting asylum patient. You've been convinced that humans are the only thing for a long time, believing magic is not a thing. Doctor Brenna is our on-sight arcanologist who's been trying to disprove your delusions for a while, but that's not a great method at getting rid of deeply irrational beliefs. What did you think was going on? The pair stare meaningfully at Taira for a moment before Fentiriss bursts out laughing. The laughing quickly turns into cursing and sputtering as it tears open her recently healed mouth cut again. Why is it I'm the only one of us who can say these things with a straight face? You've had literal tens of thousands of years of practice! Ugh. RE: Witch Trip - PointMaid - 06-23-2022 Okay, now Taira's eyes are kinda blank like a blue screen. ...Brown screen. Whatever. She faints. RE: Witch Trip - PopcornPie - 06-23-2022 "Oh, no, nonononono. I don't use fire. Period. It's too unpredictable." She moved her gaze back to the lizard men, sweat emerging from the fur on her face as her grip on her argument slipped. "I'm not-I don't mean that I'm afraid in that way, I just-Just because you have power over nature now doesn't mean you've wonI! No civilization lasts forever. If they did, I would still be with the ancient Greeks I was born to. In centuries' time, your buildings will be overgrown and crumbling." "Your rye story, though, that's correct. That's what happens when mortals and nature coexist instead of trampling each other. It's not that I'm trapped in fear of the harsher parts, it's that I choose to accept it all as my brethren and never want to take more than I need, because otherwise I'm no better than some capitalist deliberately setting everything ablaze." Then she looked at Taira. "Oh, who's faking anything? I really did get clawed to pieces by a Raccoon and I AM a nature spirit? Hasn't anyone been paying attention to the way plant life moves when I will it to?" She pointed to that clump of weeds she resurrected earlier, then to the grass that was now clawing at her ankles. "Wait, I'm not controlling the gra-Ow. Ow! Look what you've done, lizard people! Now nature is starting to doubt my loyalty to it!" RE: Witch Trip - Florien - 06-23-2022 Hey nature, look at that traitor! She's betraying you! She's claiming your defectors had legitimate reasons to defect other than "smartlife makes better nature!" She's deviating from your propaganda campaign in favor of claiming the Traitor Rye's defection was legitimate! She'll probably start defending the betrayal of the cockroach, the dormouse, many spider types, crows, cats, herpes and leprosy next! Luki, don't tease the forest spirit. What if you need her vote later? I'm not, I'm inciting violence against her. Totally different. RE: Witch Trip - PopcornPie - 06-23-2022 The grass became even more pissed and started growing longer just to constrict her ankles and throw her to the ground. "I swear (ow!), I'm not (oof) making it do this myself! (RYAAA-oof!) Please, stop!" RE: Witch Trip - Florien - 06-23-2022 Sounds like your "nature" doesn't even like the barest hint of deviation. Maybe you should come to the side of better-nature. Better-nature makes pretty much everything in it live longer and happier. Also it tries to kill you less. I'm not seeing a downside here. After all, you've been around a while. You've seen that civilization didn't end when your "greeks" got invaded, you saw that they stayed there. They never even left. Their empire fell, but a new empire showed up, and then another, and another, and to this day, they're still there. As far as you know, better-nature is a new constant. RE: Witch Trip - PopcornPie - 06-23-2022 With her pinned to the ground, Quinarva's face turned blue. "You don't understand! You're not listening! This is the relationship between a nature spirit and nature itself!" RE: Witch Trip - Florien - 06-23-2022 preeety abusive relationship between a nature spirit and nature then. You should try to get out. says a member of the pair who are regularly extremely violent with each other, and spent centuries trying to kill each other at one point, and who regularly alternate between verbal abuse and honeymoon periods. Yeah that is actually pretty "yikes" as they say here. says the other member. RE: Witch Trip - PopcornPie - 06-24-2022 "Nature is abusive to everyone..." She huffed. RE: Witch Trip - Florien - 06-24-2022 Does that make it better? Join better nature. Better nature isn't abusive. Juuuust keep it in mind. It is an option. RE: Witch Trip - Kennifer - 06-24-2022 "I mean I'm good with not getting killed..." RE: Witch Trip - PointMaid - 06-24-2022 Taira wakes up and rubs her head. She still seems a bit out of it, though. RE: Witch Trip - PopcornPie - 06-24-2022 Quinarva keeps thrashing wildly. Her entire body was being scratched by the angry plant life. "G'AAAAAH! OKAY! HELP ME AND I'LL CONSIDER! GYAAAACK!" RE: Witch Trip - Florien - 06-24-2022 Lukanios has been distracted by an opportunity and does not move to help Quinavara, instead... Hey, you're finally awake, Seargent Taira! You took quite a bad hit, yeah? Come on, get up, we're breaking camp to get to the siege of Colgard! Here's your sword, here's your uniform, let's go! Lukanios continues the ruse by tossing a sword over to Taira and a meticulously crafted gambeson that's reasonably well tailored to fit her that they've apparently been carrying this whole time in their supplies. Meanwhile, Fentiriss moves over to >Help Quinavara out of the angry plant life and into a world of cereal grains RE: Witch Trip - Mr. Lee Hammer - 06-24-2022 >Help Quinavara out of the angry plant life and into a world of cereal grains (Fentiriss) You manage to slice through the killer plants. And also have a little bit of rye to give her. Maybe she'll be convinced after all... RE: Witch Trip - PointMaid - 06-24-2022 ...Huh? I was never a soldier. ...I don't think RE: Witch Trip - PopcornPie - 06-24-2022 Panting, the scratched up nymph took the piece of rye in her hand and just stared at it "I guess I've been living in the wild-wild for so long, I've forgotten how vengeful it can really be. Especially to us spirits." She wagged her head. |
