That's a piss-poor way to counter a framing attempt, if you'll pardon the expression. I find it much more plausible that you broke them and made it look like an obvious framing situation by dumping them on the scene of your own crime, then simply said "You see, I broke them, and thus, this is a framing attempt!" But in damaging the items deliberately, you gilded the lily and made it too clear that this was meant to be taken as a framing attempt! It would have worked well enough if you just dumped the items unaltered!

What purpose would destroying the items serve to prevent framing? NONE! The items are still yours! But then, it is also possible that you failed to realize that. But somehow, I doubt it. I do suspect you of having planted this item on the scene yourself to get yourself exonerated and placed BEYOND suspicion, because no one would suspect someone who'd been framed!

You destroyed an item... to avoid being framed by someone using that item. How does this plan make any sense whatsoever? Would it not be better to just keep that item on your person, or explicitly give the item to another person for safekeeping? Or anything else! Does this story not make equal, nay, much GREATER sense if you instead destroyed an item to avoid detection after USING IT?
